NSMBU is fun but really dull at the same time. You're better off downloading a random romhack from SMW Central.

I played like 6 worlds of NSMBU, and actually had fun with NSMBWii. Just U eventually petered off for me and I played Mario Maker a bunch instead.

U is cool because it was designed with crazy four player speed runs in mind. The challenge mode is also really good.

Let's get naked!
Just bought a Wii U. I got all excited about this sale and put a bunch of virtual console games on my wishlist, only to realise later on that some are 3DS only and others are Wii U only. I naively assumed they were backwards compatible.

Bugger, I was looking forward to having Mario 1, 2 and 3 and world on my Wii U.

Oh well. At least it didn't actually allow me to buy it without having a 3DS first.

Do these types of sales happen often in the Pal / Australia region or should I just grab lots of things now whilst they're cheap?

Nintendo games almost never go on sale. Might as well get the stuff you're interested in. You could potentially get a VC game for "free" via MyNintendo now, though.

I'm surprised they can't fudge a VC version of the FX games considering they got DK64 working. If they weren't able to push Star Fox out the door for SF0's release it must be a REAL bitch to try and emulate. Or they just can't be assed for all of the 2-3 games that use the chip.

Supposedly it's more of a licensing issue.

It's not because of a programming roadblock, but because of a legal one.

Yeah the original Star Fox is something I would LOVE to have on the Wii U but I've only even seen it emulated accurately very recently and with the high-accuracy high-cpu usage emulators, which is why I'm sure they haven't done it yet. I love the original Star Fox so much; when I got out my old SNES recently I had the most fun playing that by far.

While it's playable on some of the older emulators, it's not correct. A lot of the timings are off; things like the intro sequence run way too fast.

I'd also love a remake that makes the game HD, run at 60 FPS, and maybe adds some smoothing effects but otherwise keeps the polygon count roughly the same, but I seem to be relatively alone in my love for the original's abstract and imaginative low-poly style, and a remake would probably just gently caress it up with a bunch of bullshit and terrible slippy voice acting :(

Yeah, I'd always heard that it's not that they have trouble emulating it, it's that they don't have legal rights to the FX chip.
