So I just came back after a few months of not playing and went right back to dropping Teq on people post fight or occasionally pre fight. I have to ask, when did the player base become so irrationally angry at surprise Teq because holy poo poo they got buttmad last night.

Daily achievement chests now award Potions of WvW Rewards instead of Experience Boosters. The Outnumbered effect now also grants 50% increased participation gain. Added a new guild hall upgrade to the war room that unlocks a new potion at the tavern that increases WvW reward-track gain. A new reward track has been added that awards the WvW Hero’s weapon skins. The Heart of Maguuma WvW reward track now includes Chak weapons, Auric weapons, Plated weapons, Bladed armor, and Leystone armor as an option in the Mordremoth Cache. The Silverwastes WvW reward track Carapace Armor Box now contains all pieces of Carapace armor instead of just the gloves. The Provisions Master now has a sixth pip that allows players to buy Heart of Thorns™ recipes, sigils, and runes from the Heroics Notary vendor for proofs of heroics and gold. The Max Supply +5 upgrade is now the first Guild Objective Aura upgrade guilds unlock. The Magic Find +20% upgrade is now the last Guild Objective Aura guilds unlock. Updated the Outnumbered effect to no longer list that it grants bonus experience, as experience gain is disabled in WvW. Shield Generator—Force Dome: Stability duration has been reduced from 9 seconds to 6 seconds. Fixed a bug in which trebuchet conditions were allowed to scale based on player stats. The WvW tick timer has been reduced from 15 minutes to 5 minutes. Objective Points per Tick (PPT) has been rebalanced to support the faster ticks. Camps—2 points Towers—4 points Keeps—8 points Castle—12 points This results in slightly more total war score earned from objectives. Reward-track points awarded for participation have also been rebalanced to support faster ticks. This can be found in the Style category of the Gem Store for 500 gems. The new Privateer weapon set is now available at Black Lion Weapons Specialists for 1 Black Lion Claim Ticket. I haven't played since a month after release. I logged into my old characters and everything has been reset and it is weird and scary. I want to play WvW again and run around with the zerg blowing poo poo up and crippling large groups of people with conditions. What's good at that these days? Also, is it worth buying HoT for the new class?

HoT is worth getting, partly because all classes got a new trait line that is better than any of their old trait lines 99.9% of the time (the new class is really cool though! It's also reasonably well balanced). But also the new zones are pretty neat (Dragon's Stand is kind of the WvW of PvE), gliding is swoon-worthy, raids are cool, and the game is just a good game that's worth kicking money into. Look for it for $35 if you want to be thrifty though, it's not super hard to find it on sale these days. HoT was pretty much a dumpster fire on release, but there was a huge patch in April that fixed most of its problems. WvW has also seen a really, really nice population resurgence recently and is fun again. sPvP is also pretty much better than ever, though there's an incredibly obnoxious condi warrior build right now that can be infuriating to play against. All that said, if you want to play Staff Ele and vomit power damage on people instead of conditions, you don't really need HoT to WvW. Staff Ele is still Staff Ele and the new traitline doesn't give it anything that interesting if you just want to run glass cannon and stand in the back and spit meteors and lava at people. If you're looking to kinda re-experience gw2 in general, sure, grab HoT & play rev (you get a token to auto level one character to 80 with exotic gear for buying HoT, if you want to skip that process).

Actually it's this: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Berserker_-_Macebow Essentially how it works is that Berserker Stance + Endure Pain makes you literally invincible unless you get boon stripped, the Berserk skill on Mace hits like a truck, the Berserk skill on Longbow also hits like a truck (and lays down a really long fire field you can blast), you're traited for Endure Pain at 50% HP, you can pop Healing Signet for yet more Resistance (cause Resistance + Endure Pain = no damage from power or condi), and Shattering Blow -> Headbutt is a really quick Stability -> 3s Stun combo because Headbutt's big tradeoff is that it stuns the enemy for 3 seconds, buts stuns you for 1 second. Also Mace/Shield gives you two blocks and two stuns and is, in general, a goddamned miserable weaponset to fight. Basically the only way to beat the build is to either outlast it forever with a HUGE pile of condition cleanse (only class I can manage it on is Engineer, and even then it's iffy), or load them up with a ton of conditions and strip their Resistance (Condi Mesmer/Rev/Necro can pull it off, but Necro and Condi Rev aren't terribly good imo and it can be hard to pull off with Mesmer). It's an extremely difficult class to fight, partly because the Berserk skill on Mace inficts Blind, Bleed, Confusion, and Cripple (8s Cripple, too! It's awful!) and Longbow pumps out Burn stacks like there's no tomorrow, as well as some Blind and some Immobilize and some Bleed. Condi Warrior is just ludicrously durable (including dodge rolls and blocks you can maintain near invulnerability to power damage, while also contesting point, for something like 15 seconds straight) while also throwing out a big enough variety of conditions that it's very difficult to clear them all, and some really dangerous CCs.
