This is basically the divisive part, a lot of people, myself included, feel like it's a pretty solid indie book about the Greek pantheon that Azzarello crammed Wonder Woman into, despite the square peg/round hole-ness of doing so.

I thought it was decisive because of the change to WW's origin (mainly bringing a male into the mix), the Amazonians were turned into murderous rapists, and that a lot of the secondary female characters were pushed to the side for male characters, a lot of whom were WW's teachers and advisors.

I still liked it.

Yes, and all of that wouldn't matter if it was an Image book called Battle Of Olympus or something.

Azzarello's Wonder Woman is one of the only things DC I've read that's worth a drat in years.

The first two volumes of Cerebus are free to download:

http://www.cerebusdownloads.com/freecerebus/

The other volumes can be purchased at http://www.cerebusdownloads.com/. Complete set for $100 total, or just the first (and better) half for $60.

As a bonus, at the bottom of that page is a scan of a fax by Dave Sim, who apparently doesn't do email. He gives you permission to steal his comics now and pay for them later when you can.

I've liked what I read, which was probably the first few trades or so. It's not amazing but it's a solid Cowboys with Demons and good art.

It's really good, BUT it feels like the story spins its wheels during some of the story acrs. I mostly think of it as a Hellboy/BPRD-esque comic, tying in various American myths into a world threatening story.

The original Big Tuna.

Sixth Gun spins its wheels a bit with the side stories, but once it gets back on track the pages turn into lightning. It's tied with Harrow County for my favorite Cullen Bunn-written comic.

I know I've seen discussion in here before about it, but since the sale is still ongoing: I loved TMNT as a kid. If I've never read any of the comics, would any of them be worth picking up? I'm very tempted with the current sale but not enough to blindly pull the trigger.

My understanding is that the comics are fairly violent? I'm fine with that, but I'm wondering how much of the humor is still there.

I just posted an extensive reading list for the IDW series.

https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3611360&pagenumber=190&perpage=40#post461266241

I find that series very good. You start with #1 and pick up the mini series as needed/wanted. I'd definitely give it a shot.

I don't think the original run holds up very well, but there's like two different titles on comiXology that collect the B&W issues. I say the first six issues or so are worth a read for fans just to see where it all started.

But, none of the comics are really that funny. There's some moments, but they are mostly serious affairs. It was the original cartoon that brought the humor. I'm sure the two series based on various cartoons are funny, but I haven't read any of them.

Innocent people. I could never hurt innocent people.

Well, to begin with they start off as a parody of Frank Miller's Daredevil, but it takes a while for them to transmogrify into a recognizable form. They have a sense of humor but it's a very different one from what the franchise eventually ended up with. I'd say get the first book and see how you feel about it.

You'd probably know better than me. I only read the first 12 or so issues of the original run. They were just starting to explore the mutagen and alien worlds and the like.

New stuff on comiXology Unlimited

Looks like more titles, but still only the first few issues. There's some exceptions like further issues of Invincible showing up, but mostly just introductions to titles.

If anyone is interested in some fun free stuff, we recently added Graphic India as a publisher in PowFolio, and we just put up a sampler issue with work by Grant Morrison, Luke Ross, and a bunch of others. We even have a Stan Lee title I didn't know existed (Chakra the Invincible). I'm finding it really interesting, anyway. Its a lot of books by fairly big name creators that I would normally never come across.

We are also in beta on Android. If anyone wants to be a tester, PM me.
