The Goblin Kingdom takes a very dim view of straight-up murder so it's not a bad move E: 5 for killing him possibly with some witty puns 2 for leaving the poor bastard alone 1 for bashing him on the nose with a rolled up vellum scroll (the adventure scroll could be used for that) 4 for recruiting the Kobold Afterwards people seem mostly to want to go deeper into the mine - it's a generic fantasy mine so it's coal and deeper down there's probably some treasure and demons and stuff, you know how these places work. I have 3 for going deeper vs 2 for leaving, which will take us back out onto the mine and put us on track for the Goblin City. Update time: we'll spare the priest, recruit him, and go deeper into the mine (not necessarily in that order): Last page, complete: We want to spare him. Let's talk our colleagues out of killing him too (252): And we chase him (if we let him go we can't recruit him!). To 40: Here's our new follower, another mage: So we're stuck somewhere deep in a standard-issue fantasy mine, which means anything could be down here. what's the plan? Here's the latest adventure sheet:

The lowest levels of the dungeon always have the good stuff, but getting there is normally a tiring and dangerous experience. However, with a party member experienced at digging, we've got options here besides "go forward" and "leave" Have the Kobold dig us to the treasure room / lower level

Just a reminder that we're really low on Esprit and will probably die if we have another serious encounter. We should get the kobold priest to sniff our way out of the mine and then see if we can rest up somewhere.

Who What Now posted:Yep, these books love to trick genre-ignorant people into pushing their luck until they find themselves in unwinnable situations. Eh, I say push your luck in fights and otherwise risking espirit if you are already low! It may sound counterintuitive but if you have an excess of espirit, you might want to save it for something more important later when you might need to drop a bunch. If you are low, the worst thing that can happen is you die and turn back a few pages and maybe make a different decision! Also it isn't uncommon to be put in a situation where the books expect you to have been through enough fights that it will give you something to replenish your espirit soon if you are already low and taking chances. It is destination decisions and reputations that deserve more thought, depending on what type of ending you are looking to get. At least that is how I do it.
