Yea, not really a dropout unless you try to get really, really rules-lawyery about it

EDIT: Here's a line "And I personally intend to begin my role in that process in a very short period of time" that means his dropout could be coming later. But I went ahead and sold at a loss. Got out while I could.

I honestly do not get Bernie Sanders. The man lost the election in a massive way, by over 4 million votes. It was never close. He's doing literally all the things that a dropped out candidate would do, but he just refuses to say the words concede or drop out. What a sore loser.

edit: You know what it reminds me of? Wrestlemania IV, Randy Savage beats Ted DiBiase in the main event for the world title and Hulk Hogan runs to the ring to shake hands with Randy and prance around the ring with him while Savage's music is playing and he's trying to hold the title aloft. It's like, dude, Randy worked hard for this push and he got it. Give him his moment. Hillary won this election fair and square and Bernie is just refusing to let her have her moment. It's a dick move.

Welp, that's it for me. Walking away from the table for a little while. The total amount of money that I put into PredictIt since the last time I wiped myself out: $1700. The total amount of the check that I'm getting mailed to myself right now: $1,838.11.

Could have won more, definitely could have lost more. Never going to put money on trying to predict the acts of a ancient egomaniacal socialist again.

Selling off my Bernie dropout shares, and then putting in a crazy low purchase bid to buy some more. He's clearly not dropping out right now, but I still think odds are good he does so by the end of the month. Then again my two biggest losses in the last couple months were betting on Bernie doing the rational thing.

Weaver's statement about no longer pursuing superdelegates could be interpreted as a cessation of "his active campaigning for president or for the Democratic nomination for president in the 2016 election." I wonder if someone from PI will chime in with a ruling.

Meanwhile, I purchased 666 shares of VP Gingrich at 17c for fun. Probably slightly overpriced, but if Trump himself makes the pick I think he'll choose a ... fellow traveler.

I doubt anyone in an actual elected position will be willing to give up their career to join this shitshow, and Christie is so widely disliked that he just seems like another liability. Gingrich to the moon, I say.

Gingrich is totally possible, but if ever there was a market where NO on everyone was the smart money it's Trump's VP. None may know the mind of Trump, not even Trump. I wouldn't even be surprised if does less vetting and contemplation than McCain in '08. His first choice will obviously be Donald Trump, then when informed he can't be both President and Vice President there is no possible way of knowing which shiny object will catch his attention and lead to him blurting out a name at near random.

Is there a Donald Trump Jr option in that market? Cause that's where I'd put my money.

Biden has sat immobile on the Iron Throne of America. He is the Master of Malarkey by the will of the gods, and master of a million votes by the might of his inexhaustible calamari.
Bernie is not hard to 'get'--he has a core following of the progressive base that Hillary wants/needs to secure an easy victory in the general. He has policy positions that he wants integrated/codified in the party platform and for HRC to at least give verbal attention.

So his endorsement will be given at the convention, once he gets the policy concessions. It's a game of leverage, pure and simple, and it's been the plan the entire time. That he actually came within spitting distance of the nomination without any establishment backing (Obama only made it because he was backed by the Kennedy's) was utterly amazing and unprecedented.
So he's not about to give up his leverage early. If he was in this purely for the nom, absolutely he should be cutting losses and moving on. So he's either Trumpian-level egotistical--not impossible, but also not really supported by evidence--or the policy concessions are his goal.

Free money because people can't read (YES): https://www.predictit.org/Contract/2792/Will-Debbie-Wasserman-Schultz-remain-DNC-chair-through-June

quote:

Debbie Wasserman Shultz has handed the day-to-day operations of the Democratic Party over to Clinton’s hand picked operator Brandon Davis.

Davis assumes the role of Chief of Staff, but in reality, he will be running the Democratic National Committee until a new Chairperson is selected at this year’s convention. He is currently the national political coordinator for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Wasserman-Shultz will retain her title in name only until the Democratic party votes on a successor.

Oh poo poo do I win a prize? Sent them an email the other day and they're implementing my suggestion right now:

quote:

Could you please consider adding a column in the https://www.predictit.org/Profile/MyShares page showing where and why our ultimate Gain/Loss ratio was affected next to the market that affected it? Even just a "+1c" or whatever next to the affected market would help immensely. When invested in multiple markets, it's extremely hard to track why you're up or down on your G/L and follow current trends (especially since G/L is dependent on last price sold [short flukes] but not necessarily what the shares are actually going for).

Thanks for reading!

Never actually tried refreshing at this hour, so hey, learn something new. Makes sense they have a daily downtime.

DWS absolutely, just for the turnaround.

Johnson polling 11+% NO on 6/30 is probably better, but not a guarantee (he theoretically could get a few 15% polls in a row in the next two weeks?)--currently at 80c

With all the news today about convention delegates and the rules committee (chair is critical of Trump, some delegates quit rather than vote for Trump, other delegates talking up Plan J), I'm beginning to think that https://www.predictit.org/Contract/1565/Will-Republicans-have-a-brokered-convention-in-2016 might be due for a run-up.
