I'm stoked at the implication that there's a campaign extension where you play as SM.

Regarding the favors system I prefer to keep the surprise but it will be something a little bit different from the other factions

The way I'm seeing it, the favours could be presented as crews trained by different SCs- maybe Dante gives Assault bonuses, Mephiston forces enemy cooldown, etc.

Unfortunately, in the official forums Tindalos indicated there is no additional campaign in the SM DLC. I guess they didn't realize their SM trailer could appear misleading if they added storyline elements to it.

:( But at least Imperial Fists are in. Fists, Smurfs, Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Dark Angels. I'm hoping they add some more campaign in with a future DLC if not this one. Adding a massive Tau force like they will I can't imagine they wouldn't toss in something for the next single player DLC. I must bring the Emperor's light to more foul Xenos.

Ravensburg (the lead developer) mentioned something along the line that this is not the last we see of Spire, so maybe another campaign is in the work.

Sweet. I figured as its obvious they loved making this game. Seriously hope this game gets enough word of mouth to make it fairly successful. Total War and this game brought back my love for GW lore hard.

Thought I'd get into this again after leaving it for a while.

First match: My brand new chaos fleet of 2x hellbringers and 4x iconoclast vs an eldar player. Smug gently caress brings a loving void stalker and a single nightshade.

Come the gently caress on, Tindalos. Some match balancing beyond just a points score is badly loving needed.

Pretty sure that its only ever going to be points level, and MAYBE your admirals level, in keeping with how close they are sticking to TT. In TT any 300 pt fleet should have been able to take any other 300 pt fleet.

You know, if TT was in any way balanced.

The main weird thing that throws a wrench into this is that for some reason they've adjusted the points costs for bigger ships downwards from the TT equivalents. In TT, a battleship usually costs something in the neighbourhood of 350+ points. You can generally get three light cruisers for that, or two line cruisers if you squeeze a bit. Meanwhile in Armada, Battleships cost only some 250-odd points, meaning you can only bring 2 light cruisers or 1.5 line cruisers instead.

I thought the main that that fucks that up for matchmaking was ship skills, since those don't affect ship costs.

Upgrades don't cost anything either, which is kind of insane - and they did increase costs in TT.

Changelog posted:

Gameplay

Imperial Navy

A new upgrade, Imperial Assassin, which can trigger a mutiny with a Lightning Strike Assault Action, has been added to the Deck.

Chaos

A new upgrade, Chaos Space Marines, which Reduces the enemy troop value on Boardings and Lightning Strikes, has been added to the Deck.

Ork Pirates

A new upgrade, Weirdboy Tower, which adds a Zzap weapon on the Deck, has been added to the Deck. This weapon does not take the Zzap Upgrades, and fires at 3.000 units + 3.000 Units per Point in the Weirdboy Crew Member.

Eldar Corsairs

A new upgrade, Harlequin’s Masque, which Improves Troop Value while in Brace for Impact by 5, has been added to the Deck. The bonus can be improved by 5 per point in the Harlequin Crew Member.

As far as I can tell, other changes are only cosmetics, or engine level fixes.

I get that they don't want crazy zzaps on every ork ship, but at this point they really need crazy zzaps on every ork ship just to keep pace with other races.

So, are the different space marine chapters just a flavor thing? Messed around with level 1 skirmish admirals and I don't see any differences...

Wathcing someone stream SM. Looks like SM vs SM is going to be a slow thing since they are so armoured.

Edit: Yeah further ORK nerfs are going to make them basically unplayable unless you resort to really cheap (but easily counterable) tactics, like tractor spam.
