It's definitely a fresh take on the gridlock we've been seeing in politics and offers the most compelling explanation I've seen so far. Lot's of people have been trying to wrangle an explanation for what we're seeing now and while his theory may not entirely explain it it's definitely a component we've been missing. I know it will be really easy to write anyone buying into this theory as being ' oh the dirty rabble are rising up again' but going in the other direction I don't think anyone here would defend direct democracy as a tenable system of government. It seems like if there's a balance between direct vs. representative we may be lopsided too heavily towards direct. edit: I've been chewing this article over for the past few hours and I think that with the upcoming supreme court overhaul we may have a solution there, somehow. I dunno. edit2: This article may be good for it's own thread maybe. Like I said it's a pretty fresh take that I'd like to see hashed out some more.

Yeah, her taking out years of repressed anger on eviscerating Trump in a way that not even "gives no fucks Obama" could manage has been refreshing as hell. Basically what she lacks in comedy she makes up for in spite, and after all the bullshit from republicans the last 8 years I'd rather have spite than comedy.

Yeah I agree, there's been a really ugly kick-down tendency this election. "Trump behaves like a mentally ill person, which is bad." "Trump is poor, which is bad. Lol poverty." "Trump supporters are backwards hicks, haha." The guy sucks because he's a rich blowhard racist with no knowledge of society or politics. The need to compare him to the marginalized is strange and disturbing to me.

BI NOW GAY LATER posted:https://twitter.com/sahilkapur/status/745309209064017920 lol Hillary Clinton Is Now The Most Religious Candidate Running For President quote:"I am a person of faith. I am a Christian. I am a Methodist,” Clinton responded. “My study of the Bible … has led me to believe the most important commandment is to love the Lord with all your might and to love your neighbor as yourself, and that is what I think we are commanded by Christ to do. And there is so much more in the Bible about taking care of the poor, visiting the prisoners, taking in the stranger, creating opportunities for others to be lifted up … I think there are many different ways of exercising your faith.” 5 faith facts about Hillary Clinton: Social Gospel Methodist to the core quote:As a girl, she was part of the guild that cleaned the altar at First United Methodist Church in Park Ridge, Ill. As a teen, she visited inner-city Chicago churches with the youth pastor, Don Jones, her spiritual mentor until his death in 2009. During her husband’s presidency, the first family worshipped at Washington’s Foundry United Methodist Church, and this fall she spoke at the church’s 200th anniversary. Time magazine described her membership in a bipartisan women’s prayer group organized by evangelicals. I loving BEG Trump to hammer Clinton on religion.

BI NOW GAY LATER posted:he can't even quote a really well known scripture correctly lol Meanwhile, from that first article: quote:Clinton often attended pentecostal “camp” meetings in Arkansas when her husband was governor, a local gesture that quickly expanded to include meetings throughout the region. The two became recognized regulars at the spiritual events, and earned a reputation as faithful churchgoers among Southern pentecostals — a group that includes many African Americans, a key part of the Democratic machine in the Deep South. Late-summer whistle-stop tour of Southern churches, y/y? I will also say: I had absolutely no idea that Hillary was devout. I totally understand why she normally underplays it but it's yet another way to triangulate the poo poo out of Trump. showbiz_liz fucked around with this message at 19:07 on Jun 21, 2016 |
