Some teeth long for ripping, gleaming wet from black dog gums. So you keep your eyes closed at the end. You don't want to see such a mouth up close. before the bite, before its oblivion in the goring of your soft parts, the speckled lips will curl back in a whinny of excitement. You just know it.

I read the first couple issues of Lemire's followup, but didn't keep up with it. Is it good?
New Avengers has, and it's really good. He's just constantly bumblefucking around, making bad decisions, getting made fun of because he's old and/or Kate is better, and then being awesome and shooting arrows into motherfuckers way out of his weight class like it ain't no thang.

New Avengers is awesome in general.

The Daily Show bit from the Pleasant Hill tie-in is probably my favourite moment of the book thus far.

This is the 2015 New Avengers, right? There are like four books called that, and two since Fraction's Hawkguy.

Or the entire issue that's alternative meanings for the W.H.I.S.P.E.R. acronym, or Squirrel Girl's URL powers, or "Thunderbolt Ross thinks he's kind of heavy-handed", or how Tippy-Toe also has squirrel powers because she's a literal squirrel, or...

I meant that the idea that marvel replaced Frank with the ultimate version without saying anything about it and that this was somehow magically gleaned from a whopping two issues that have not mentioned anything about this is dumb. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Lemire finished what he had to say and the current method at Marvel is to end a book at that point. The same thing is happening to Howard the Duck with #11. Currently it is rumored that a new Hawkeye series will launch in the fall and it will be a solo Kate Bishop series.

Reminder that Disney bought both Marvel and Star Wars to, among other things, build up their range of "boy" brands.

Apparently right before both brands discovered that women have money and like cool poo poo.

In fairness that was actually a problem Disney had, since they were raking in cash on the Princesses and Fairies lines and then realized they had absolutely no equivalents for boys.

I remember years ago listening to an interview with a random TNG cast member, I think Lavar Burton, who mentioned that surprisingly the richest person on the cast was Michael Dorn, because he got in on the ground floor of Fuddruckers when it was first starting up, and for whatever reason that cracked me the hell up. Dude spends all his spare time now collecting and flying airplanes, because why not.

I think when a character has a run as monumentally beloved as Fraction's Hawkeye, you have to let that character lay fallow for a while before they can have another solo book that won't instantly be dismissed as "Not as good as the last one". Let Clint run around in New Avengers for a few years and let Kate have a solo title.
