Don't know whether I crossed paths with any of you goons in Denver. I was the Donald J. Hutt campaigning there on Saturday. Anyway, this was my personal favorite of the weekend:

I think that may be the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. They've been running an exhibition of 2000AD artwork (as can be seen in the background). So it's actually a museum of decorative art and design.

My want and opinion stands resolute. I would very much like to photograph a model, within a modern history museum as she cosplays, Lara Croft.

Please do no want shame.

If it's not that museum it's probably the art department of any community college in America.

All community colleges in America have original 2000AD artwork framed on the wall?

"I would very much like, as my 4th year photography lesson, to photograph a paid/willing cosplayer, in various poses, in various places, inside of a natural history museum. Preferably the larger and more verbose the museum the better,"

My thesis statement for my fourth year of professional photography. Don't photo shame me. This would contribute to the narrative of western society.

Please, for gently caress's sake, do not make me nerd out and justify that statement, you and I both know I can, in loving excruciating detail.

I was going off the lovely rope in front of the lovely art of two characters just standing there in the most boring perspective ever. If you identified that art as original anything, good job.

I'm no expert in the field of art preservation but I'm pretty sure that the Victoria and Albert Museum wouldn't display original art by attaching it to a rickety easel with bulldog clips

Actually that's not completely out of the question since Fury Road co-writer Brendan McCarthy got his start drawing 2000 AD (including Judge Dredd) back in the 70s.

This made me double-take, because I knew someone named Brendan McCarthy when I was younger, but he was born in the 80s.

DINO DAMAGE
The break-out vehicle of our Denver Comic Con booth was definitely the Twister Jeep. This was a huge relief as I was super nervous about whether or not it would be iconic enough to illicit the recognition and reaction that the owner was really hoping for. The movie is 20 years old, and while I think the Jeep is the cooler of the two main vehicles, it definitely has way less screen time than the red pickup. Of course, the thing that makes it recognizable at all was the Dorothy unit in the back, but we had that. I was relieved to hear con-goers immediately reciting lines from the movie ("We got cows" being the go-to) and having people ask to inspect Dorothy and climb into the driver's seat.

But nothing could have prepared us for an interaction about an hour before the end of the con. A woman came up to the booth and asked if her husband could get up close to the truck. My co-founder, who owns the truck, jumped up and happily helped them behind the chain to take a look. I couldn't hear the conversation, all I saw was my cofounder pointing out the parts of the vehicle to the guy as he ran his hands over the hood, grabbed the roll cage and touched all the little gizmos on the Dorothy. I snapped some photos just trying to capture a moment of the owner interacting with an enthused attendee.

My cofounder came back to the table looking like he'd just run up a flight of stairs. He explained that 'Twister' was the last movie the guy had seen before losing his sight. As the owner guided him over the car, the guy mentioned he remembered the yellow paint with blue stripes, the rollcage with three lights, and he touched the cylinder of Dorothy and mentioned all the boxes with wires and the spinning anemometers sticking out of the top.

I could have never imagined this stupid hobby would lead to an experience like that. By far, the single most meaningful moment our group has ever had.

Also, it looks like in-game, she kind of drags the sword on the ground behind her, so the wheels are a way to emulate that method of carrying without scraping the crap out of a prop that you spent a lot of effort on.
