Gammatron 64 posted:Just out of curiosity, which ships are good\bad though? Not that I'm gonna go hardcore into this game because I like going outside and doing things. Well, I guess I'll know when I have wesleyguide access. As mentioned before, you can get pretty much anything working, as long as you have the gear the time and some basic understanding of how the game functions. fakemirage posted:If you're looking for ship traits then All Hands on Deck (from Tactical Command Battlecruisers) and Emergency Weapon Cycle (from Battle Cruiser/Heavy Warbird/Battlecruiser Bundle) are cross faction ships you should be looking for. Reciprocity (from Phantom Intel Escort) is a good one for feds and you can get it from the exchange for KDF and Romulans. If you want something quick and agile, but not very tough, you can look at the pilot ships (sci one specifically has a good boff seating) that have special movement powers not found on any other ships. If you want something more more tanky you can look at the Command Ships (Tactical version for the AHoD) or the new Flagships (sci one can be a surprisingly good DPS ship when using Plasma Embassy Consoles, just like its T5 counterpart). If you want something in between, you can look at the Battlecruiser which also exists as a fleet version you can buy with fleet modules (fleet version doesn't come with the trait that is really good). Since you're returning from not playing before the new upgrade system you should also be aware that getting your weapons upgraded to XIV will noticeably improve your damage, but may cost you a bunch of EC and Dilithium if you're not careful. Read the Wesley wiki on the subject. There should be a section for returning players that will help you get started.

Gammatron 64 posted:Just out of curiosity, which ships are good\bad though? Not that I'm gonna go hardcore All the fights in STO are DPS races against hp blobs. Any ship with cmdr + ltc tac & ltc eng boff seats will let you chain all the important damage buffs. Then you just need a few doffs to achieve competence with garbage gear. Other ships are either trash or snowflake poo poo that will require more grind or :tenbux: to get up to speed than you're likely willing to put in. Assuming you're just gonna lazily smash space-bar to fire phasers for a couple weeks before moving on.

I have a Fleet Sovereign, Fleet Excelsior, T5 Defiant and T5 Galaxy. Yes, I know the Galaxy class is bad and buying ships off the store is dumb. I like the Enterprise-D, man! The fleet T6 Galaxy actually isn't hot garbage, it's just moderately mediocre. And the T6F Gal-X is even reasonably okayish, but Gal-X fuglyness (although they gave it less fugly bits in the Galaxy revamp, let you take off the loving turrets and poo poo) MikeJF fucked around with this message at 01:10 on Jun 22, 2016 |

The Connie looks pretty darn good. https://imgur.com/a/d2ZQY Also, TOS enemies drop TOS era loot, I got some TOS Disruptor and plasma turrets off some Space Romulans Got Hypos with TOS icons, And a TOS Fed Phaser, Wide beam as well off ground NPCs. Oh, and that bug where the TOS Enterprise's nacelles folded up? Its back. Tuskin38 fucked around with this message at 03:03 on Jun 22, 2016 |

MikeJF posted:Does it have the giant impulse engines from the end of Into Darkness? Nope. According to the ship artist, the JJ Connie is around 720 Meters, that is the size CBS told them.

|
Tuskin38 posted:Nope. Mmm, that's always been the official number. It was designed for the same size as the original Connie (~300 metres) for JJTrek1, but then late in production they realised that they couldn't fit all the stuff in for the shuttlebay scene when they were putting the FX together, so they scaled it up to 720. It means it's pretty inconsistent - the windows and features on the outside of the ship are all as if it's 300. MikeJF fucked around with this message at 05:02 on Jun 22, 2016 |
