If anything, that wouldn't be a God-like being in a greater dimension. Humanity would, instead, be this weird twine-tangle weaving a spirograph path across timespace with a rock in the middle, and all the other uberdimensional creatures are looking at it askance like "WTF is that, kill it"

I want to say this is a Ray Bradbury short story (I actually have no idea, and Google isn't being helpful), but if I remember correctly there wasn't much mention of ascending to a godlike state at the end of it all. And all I got from it was something like "Huh, that would kind of suck actually."

The problem is with these false flag thoeries - where is the government finding these people who are willing to get themselves killed to advance the government's plan? This evil super secret shadowy government must offer really good healthcare and dental or something.

They are victims of the human ability to see and recognize patterns, even when they aren't really there. The fact that conspiracy theories, perversely enough, are very comforting to them. It means that the world has order and sense behind it, even if it is malevolent. The idea that things simply happen, that the world is simply a chaotic mess with no rhyme nor reason behind it or that it's caused by complex systems beyond their comprehension is what they don't want to confront, because it is far more frightening to them than the idea that the evil elites, whoever they are, are behind it.

I don't quite buy into the "they're scared of chaos and need comfort" angle--it seems far more likely that they want to feel special for seeing things the sheeple are oblivious to and enjoy playing the victim when they can blame the establishment or whoever for things not working out for them. At least, I think that's the case for your garden-variety conspiracy nuts (BIG PHARMA is hiding the cure for the common cold to sell more cold medicine) and people who for some reason are obsessed with one particular thing (Sandy Hook was a false flag operation designed to take ARE GUNS). No loving clue what the average unironic flat-earther's deal is.
