This is purely anecdotal, but if you're the sort of person who's buying all the X-titles because you're an X-Men supernerd, you're probably not buying the Deadpool stuff, or you're buying it for a different reason.

Jay & Miles said Deadpool is not under the X-office at Marvel when they started doing video reviews of "all" the X-books.

Squizzle posted:While Deadpool walks, talks, and quacks like an X-men character in a lot of ways—his film rights go with the X-men rights, he might still be edited by the X-office, his in-character backstory ties in with Weapon X—he's not an X-men character in a lot of other ways. The ways in which he's not an X-character are the ones that would be important to a lot of X-books fans: he doesn't touch the bigotry metaphor or the extinction drama that have driven X-books for decades; he doesn't interact with classic X-characters, -settings, or -situations very much (and in fact interacts with the MU at large a lot more); he hasn't been part of the franchise-defining comics like the characters of Claremont and Morrison. Sure, but the argument is "Marvel hates X-Books because Fox has the movie rights!!!!" so Deadpool would certainly be included under that supposed hatred, regardless of whether he fits in thematically or not.

It probably doesn't help that none of the team books has a marquee creative team. Having a lot of good Deadpool comics doesn't offset that for the hypothetical X-men enthusiast I'm imagining.

Endless Mike posted:Sure, but the argument is "Marvel hates X-Books because Fox has the movie rights!!!!" so Deadpool would certainly be included under that supposed hatred, regardless of whether he fits in thematically or not. Ah, yeah. There's still quite a few books going on each month, even without the Deadpool enclave. There are elements to that argument I can kind of buy--making Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch not mutants so they could be used by the MCU, and depowering mutants and bringing in Inhumans certainly seems suspect if you're already on board with the theory. But honestly you can deflate that theory with the simple statement that Marvel needs money and X-books are a big seller. Really, Deadpool is the bigger proof against Marvel sidelining the properties they don't own the rights to. It's certainly true that Marvel is pushing Inhumans (despite apparently any reader interest whatsoever; I literally had to stop and think about what they were called for a minute) so that any new superpowered characters end up under their banner, but that doesn't have to mean they're crippling the X-Men line at the some time.

I like Scott because of how nonsensical his character is. He started out a simple guy who shoots lazers out of his eyes and ended up a mutant messiah/terrorist/worst husband/etc who died throwing a tantrum at the Inhumans.

Was there ever a comic that explained why Storm didn't just go blow the cloud into a volcano or something? I mean it kind of seems like a big plot hole that the defacto leader of the mutants who can control the weather has been powerless to stop a cloud for 6 months. I could guess that maybe she didn't want to cause an incident and decided that evacuating all mutants off earth was a better plan than fighting the inhumans?

It's probably some handwavey "it's too big" explanation. I also want to know why they don't just ask Scarlet Witch to make up for her last mutant genocide by wishing the cloud away or something.

I don't really get why people keep saying "Black Bolt got what was coming to him, he's totes suffering the consequences of unilaterally forcing Terrigenesis on thousands of people and unleashing the M-pox." Cuz' the last I saw of him, the douche was living the high life in his own personal casino, bossing around a bunch of minions...sorry, employees. Not quite the pitiable, guilt-ridden state that folks have described here. So he's not king of an entire species anymore. So his wife left him. Big whoop? How'sabout we see him show any remorse whatsoever about anything he's done...or, failing that, at least throwing some of his considerable influence into fixing the situation or helping its victims, instead of doing his best Al Pacino impression in some lavish penthouse.
