You could also manually bang on the keyboard. It was fun to mess with while waiting for raid groups to ready. (as the bard class having different instruments equipped would also make you play different riffs for your bard 'spells', bagpipe bards were obv. the best)

I remember on my Lotro server back in the day, there was Jam Night weekday (I forget which weekday) where one guild put on a concert with members submitting songs and such and leading groups that was pretty neat and consistent. Lotro's music system is really cool. Edit: Since I remembered to take screenshots of it, here's my current paladin/tank glam because I got sick of the Ifrit's stuff and it's kinda neat how it comes together. But boy am I going to feel dumb if the new FC gear takes Allied Seals 'cause I spent the last dregs of mine on this. EponymousMrYar fucked around with this message at 00:25 on Jun 24, 2016 |

If anyone else hasn't bought Heavensward yet either because you got the steam version, it's on sale for $19.99 (50% off) on Steam for the summer sale! Also, if you wanted to buy FFXIV and Heavensward on Steam, it's cheaper to buy vanilla and Heavensward individually rather than as a bundle for some reason.

i've used basically the same pld/tank glam since 2.2. I've been meaning to buy some crafted ha pieces to try out different colors but instead funnel all my money into healer glams where I may have actually spent some 100mil gil during this patch alone

I've been struggling really hard with the top tier endgame raids and trials. I've seen (or at least been told) my dps reach 1-1.2k, but not often. More often than not I end up around 800 which is definitely terrible. At least, that's the impression I get after I'm in a group and someone says "Dps is low". What can I do to improve? I mean I have the i230 weapon and my avg level is 225. That's not top tier, but I figure it should be good enough. I know there are best rotations, but I don't really know what I'm not doing correctly. Ninja seems pretty straight forward as far as what attacks to do in which order, they light up. Can someone give me tips? Or hold my hand in-game to show me what to do? I want to not be bad!

There should be a button for that under the Account Services section (or somewhere similar) on the Your Account tab of Mog Station once you enter your registration code from Steam. After you do that, you'll have until your free month expires to enter a recruitment code.

Are you keeping Huton up? Are you keeping your slashing debuff up? Are you keeping your dots up? Are you using all of your off-GCDs, including ninjutsu, on cooldown? If your rotation is fine then it probably has more to do with uptime--are you always hitting the enemy? Are you minimizing the amount of time you spend dodging?

AE combo gets priority as long as you're at its back, but if you find yourself unable to hit that while dodging AoEs, or if you need to refresh Huton, move to the target's side and use Armor Crush. An AC combo at the flank is better than an AE combo at the flank.

I feel like my DRG single-target DPS is up to snuff but I struggle with multi-target situations a bit, mainly because I'm not sure how to handle DRG's massive TP drain when using AOE attacks. Generally I just use my single-target rotation on whatever is the toughest enemy, unless it's a horde of weak enemies (eg that swarm of enemies right after the second boss of Fractal Continuum) when I spam Doom Spike. I don't raid, but I'd like to be doing the best I can under these circumstances. How do the thread's dragoons handle AOE?

Pop BFB/IR (+BL if it's gonna be a while before the next boss), HT (DFD) -> RoT -> DS until around 430 TP, then Invig -> HT -> RoT -> DS until around 400-600 TP, then finish off with single target. If it's a small pull, a BRD/MCH is feeling charitable, or everyone else is contributing good AoE, then I'll push towards 400. Don't forget about Geirs, but it may be more efficient to save it for the single target rotation. This isn't possible on every pull due to cooldowns, but as long as you switch to single target around 400-600 TP, you should be fine.

Haven't played drg much since I got it to 60 (though I did main it from 2.0-2.3) but as a Nin I typically just blow all my tp down to sub 200 and then single target. In dungeons I will do bfb/ir on one pack and then invig the next so I can kind of normalize the amount of AE I'm doing, sort of. You may want to start single targetting at higher tp though since nin costs have consistently been reduced this expansion and I don't think drg's got the same treatment.

Don't let yourself fall below 400 tp after an invigorate when you're AOEing as a drg; you can make it through any trash pull doing solo target damage if you have around 400 tp but below that you'll burn yourself out.

SonicRulez posted:I want to not be bad! Someone in our raid group had recently swapped to Monk, and despite knowing their rotation the DPS wasn't very great. They'd swapped from Bard. As it turned out, a large part of why their DPS sucked was due to auto-attacks not connecting. When doing the positionals, they would face away from the enemy to move around, which was making them miss auto-attack ticks. It probably won't completely fix it, but others have pointed out some good stuff too. Make sure you're facing your enemy as much as you can, and lock-on might actually help you here. When our Monk started using lock-on, they got a huge boost to their DPS. Auto-attack shouldn't be underestimated.
