Tickets are sold out as far as I know, and a premium stream if its anything like last year, will run you $20.

I appreciate all the help, guys. I remember being told that I'd need B4B. I tried to forego it, but I guess the answer to that is no. What's the quickest way to bang that out in a couple hours? I'd love to get through it so I can get to a dummy and practice.

Another tip I have for drg aoe is to pop life surge before dragon fire dive, to squeeze a little more aoe dps out of it (make sure you also have b4b and heavy thrust up, obviously).

Drg is fun but I do really hate trying to aoe with it. Feels like you're farting away your tp without putting much dps out before you have to pull back and switch to single target (it feels especially impotent after you get used to playing blm).

But hey, at least we aren't ninjas

Blood for Blood is huge, get that DRG to 34.

Wwwwwelp. I feel like that's something I would have noticed if I'd leveled drg recently, but since it was the first class I played, I "learned" how to use life surge before I learned the difference between weaponskills and abilities.

Better late than never I guess!

Two main reasons why Blizzard halfasses WoW
1) Activision going all CoD
2) Literally millions of people still pay them MONTHLY, even more pay them yearly and there's somewhat active cash shop on top of that

Can't blame them, I mean it's bbys first mmorpg and I don't think it needed to stay good for so long, people can move on and play ffxiv for example

I feel like my DRG single-target DPS is up to snuff but I struggle with multi-target situations a bit, mainly because I'm not sure how to handle DRG's massive TP drain when using AOE attacks. Generally I just use my single-target rotation on whatever is the toughest enemy, unless it's a horde of weak enemies (eg that swarm of enemies right after the second boss of Fractal Continuum) when I spam Doom Spike. I don't raid, but I'd like to be doing the best I can under these circumstances. How do the thread's dragoons handle AOE?

The big thing about aoe is that everyone needs to be doing it or it's not worth it. If your other dps is single targeting, then a lot of your aoe is effectively wasted. The better that guy's single target dps is, the more of your aoe is wasted. If you see someone single targeting for 3+ mobs, ask them to aoe. It's unfortunate, but a lot of bad players are extremely averse to using aoe abilities.

You will feel this way when you try to level any class that isn't your main since you (probably) won't have msq or sidequests to distract you.

DRG bores me to tears too but it's worth it for that dps boost. The only thing I've enjoyed less is the 50-60 MCH grind.

DRG and BLM are particularly annoying instances of that - other jobs need to level them to 34 and 26 respectively for important cross-class abilities, but that's when their rotations are at their most egregiously boring and uninteresting. And then pretty much right after you're done with the obligated leveling is when you finally start getting more interesting mechanics to play with... just after you say "gently caress this job, it sucks and is boring and I hate being obligated to play it".

I still think the biggest letdown for if you're trying to get all cross-class skills is having to go all the way to 42 to grab Mantra from MNK. A 30-level gap between cross-class stuff is inexcusable. I would've greatly preferred Steel Peak or Touch of Death

If you consider a group of mobs to collectively have one big health pool, doing AoE is still better. It might not feel better when everyone else is wailing on a mob for huge damage and you're plinking it for 160 potency/gcd, but if there are three other mobs you're hitting that's still 640 potency/gcd and I don't think you can beat that with a single target rotation.
You just want to be very, very sure that you stop doing AoE soon enough that you don't run dry on TP while stuff is still alive.

The solution to this is to main MNK, since it is the best.

Now, I think DRG is fantastic, it's great fun at 60, I love it, but yeah I won't do lower-level roulettes with it in case I get synced down below 40 or so when it's unbearable. There's a certain point in the progression where you get the best DPS by using Impulse Drive over and over.

At either 1027 or 1028 craftsmanship (not sure due to rounding errors) you can finish a 3 star specialist recipe in 1 MM 3 RS 2 CS which is a really nice threshold. You can also do the 1651 difficulty materials as 1 MM 3 RS 1 CS with the craftsmanship food.

I've never understood why people do this. 2 impulse drives is 10 potency over drg's basic combo before 26. It is completely negligible in the context of good dps being 40. I never did impulse spam when I was level sync'd down and I still spent every dungeon sitting at the top of the parser and I was significantly less bored doing it.

Anecdotal purposes. Also just bringing it up because for some reason every other class' final cross-class skill is at 34 except MNK. Also, if it's garbage, why not replace it with something else? Hell, I'm pretty sure DRG and (maybe) WAR wouldn't mind having MNK's l34 skill. Fists of Wind is worthless on BRD due to Swiftsong but the others might like it if they have a free fifth cross-class slot. Which I'm pretty sure DRG does.

One last thing to keep in mind is to make use of materia if you aren't already. With the addition of NPC melders and falling prices of IVs, theres not much reason to go into EX/savage content without something shoved in every NPC meldable slot. It won't be a massive boost (unless you're going from under the ACC cap to meeting it), but the effects are nice to have and looking at all the unmelded scrubs will make you feel better about yourself.Obviously, don't meld any Vs to anything there's even a remote chance you'll replace in the near future.
