Earlier I happened to be looking at some VAs in Overwatch and it turns out that almost everyone is voiced by someone from the character's culture or one very close to it. Furthest one I can remember is that D.va is voiced by a Chinese woman rather than a Korean one, I believe? I thought that was cool of Blizzard to do instead of just getting bad accents in, even if they don't know that "Cheers love!" means "Thank you!" not "Hello" :britain:

Also I guess Winston is not voiced by someone from the moon.

Nah, changing it now that everyone's used to it would only increase confusion rather than decrease it. I don't speak a word of Chinese and I've never had any issues telling it apart from her other lines.

Reinhardt is voiced by an American, and his German pronunciation isn't too great, especially "Hasselhoff". Junkrat's voice actor is also American, but I guess he does a pretty good over-the-top Australian impression. Torbjörn sounds generically gruff rather than Swedish -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrzwpZfONXY

I mean, all in all, it's a pretty good voice cast, but there are still some missed opportunities.

How "Twitchy" is overwatch? I'm an old man with tired, old thumbs and I just can't compete with these young'uns whenit comes to twitchy shootman games these days. I played a bit of Doom multiplayer and I liked it. The whole unlocking things scratched my reptilian brain a bit, but never as well as Modern Warfare 2 did.

Man, I loved MW2 and having to use all the crappy guns to unlock their crappy add-ons which would still contribute to you levelling up. Good times.

I wish there was a demo for Overwatch or something. Might just flip a coin on payday.

Soldier: 76 is a character designed for old and tired thumbs. His ult is auto-aim, so you just point yourself in the direction of enemies and do work. It's really not a super twitchy game.

If S76 proves too difficult, you could always go Torbjörn and let your turret play the game for you.

If you want something front-and-center in a fight without twitchy shooting, Reinhardt's for you. He doesn't have a gun, he just swings a bigass warhammer at point-blank range and uses a colossal Energy Shield to cover teammates (it puts the camera in third-person while using it so you can make sure it's covering people right behind/beside you). Alternatively you can try Winston, where you don't need to target at all as his Tesla Cannon because it just hits whoever is closest and all you gotta do is jump and bounce through the enemy group to distract them.

Speaking as a man in a similar situation, Overwatch can be very twitchy or not twitchy at all depending on what character you chose to play as. Most of the offensive characters require fast reflexes and precision aim, but many of the other characters have guns that barely require aim or are support characters where you mostly just stay close to your team with auras and auto-lock powers. I've generally been playing as support characters or tanks where you can support the team greatly without being a crack shot; it's all just having situational awareness. And even when you do branch into more offensive characters, they have a wide rainbow of skill between all of them to ease you into them. Hitboxes seem quite forgiving for some characters as well, as I never expected to be able to hit anyone as the bow character, Hanzo, but I did!

Payday 2 is a different beast, being a PvE game instead of PvP: the enemies are easier to shoot but there are a ton more of them to shoot at (which is a plus once you get used to it). I think it's free to play now so you lose nothing by trying it. Personally I have both and they are great.

Except for Pokemon, Valkyria Chronicles and 100% OJ.

I'll probably think of more once I haven't just woken up, but something that I don't think was mentioned is that the hello isn't just a voice clip, every character actually waves or does some approximate hand motion. Now that part I love is Junkrat's. He's got 2, one for an empty hand, and another for when he's holding the detonator.

This isn't cool at all Looshkin! These are dark forces you're titting about with!

My favourite thing in Overwatch happened this afternoon. Playing as Widowmaker (the trad sniper character), I managed to shoot Tracer (zippy character who's schtick is that she bamfs from place to place and is generally hard to hit) as she tarted to blink. Totally unintentional, but it led to her corpse flying towards me at super speed. God it was satisfying.

I think there are some pivotal gameplay ideas that are just brilliant. Like Dark Souls' multiplayer; Assassin's Creed' map system - to a lesser extent, I'm spitballing. Just stuff that makes enough sense that other games scramble to adopt it into their own game.

Makes me really surprised that Dragon's Dogma's 'climbing on enemies' mechanic hasn't been in more games. It feels to me exactly what was missing from hack'n slash games. I saw the new God of War trailer, and one of my biggest issues was, "Why isn't Kratos climbing up on that big Troll and stabbing him in his vitals, vs swinging at his legs?" There was more that bugged me about that trailer... but drat, the Dragon's Dogma "Big Enemy" system is so well done, I'm amazed more games aren't jumping on that.

If you let the troll paint the fence itself instead of Geralt, it does a spot on accurate job of painting the crest.

The trolls in general are a great example of a cargo cult. They want to be like humans but they just don't get why we do what we do. We wear shoes, they want shoeses too but they barely even know what shoes are. Trololo has probably seen guards around guarding their compounds, and internalized a link between guards and fences that doesn't really exist, while at the same time having no idea what boats are for, and because the Redanians didn't bother to brief him, just said "Guard this poo poo while we go drinking" he did his best with faulty information. Their simple, but not quite as stupid as everyone thinks.

My favorite stealth kill animation is still the one for the sledgehammer in Vampire: The Masquerades: Bloodlines because your character does a huge windup and sends the corpse flying with ragdoll physics that only the pre-HL2 Source engine could provide. Granted, it makes it terrible for actual stealth because half the time the corpse would wind up flying into someone else's line of sight but it was still really funny.
