I don't remember what the name is, but there's one that makes changes to the bug meshes so they float on water and can be hit by spells and stuff so you can just roast them and scoop them up off the surface. I ended up finding them dead all the time too, not sure why, and they'd collect wherever the water currents pushed trash so I could gather a bunch with zero effort.

I found it through the CACO page, it may be one of the required mods or just one that I found linked through one of them. I can't check because I don't have anything installed anymore.

A while back during the Mod Picker thing, I floated the idea of an off-site honest mod reviews and discussion site. I had in mind something that would combine things like the old Grimy's mod reviews (if anyone technically inclined enough could do it at that level, or more informally if not) with user ratings and reviews, and a wiki-like knowledge base. I have a more solid idea now of how to put something like that into action. What I do not have is a good name because I am poo poo at naming things. Best I could come up with is "Skyrim is for the goons" or some poo poo, which is terrible.

So, I'm open to suggestions because I want to try to get that poo poo off the ground.

don't put "goon" in the name imho

name it something generic like "skyrim apex"
"the pinnacle of modding perfection"

That would actually be really nice!

There are so many huge mods that claim to do huge things and are really popular, but are a pain in the rear end to set up and try out only to find out that they suck. I think the only "big" mods I've been pleasantly surprised with are Immersive Armors/Weapons and SPERG.

I feel like this kind of thing would be helpful too - not necessarily super in-depth reviews, just "here's why this big mod everyone always mentions is overrated/will break your game." Especially if it includes suggestions for alternatives that do the same/similar things.

Well yeah, just claiming "X popular mod is poo poo" without any further detail is useless. Especially since if the mod is interesting enough some people might be willing to overlook the flaws. But even then it's still better to know what the problems are in case they occur.

Have either of you tried both ETAC (Expanded towns and Cities) and the new HOLDS : the city overhaul?

Holds seem much nicer but also heavier performance-wise + looks like it could break your game more since it modifies navmeshes insanely.

ETAC is good and gives cities a lot of nice little touches without going overboard.

Holds turns Falkreath into a shanty town of copy paste wooden houses and drops fps like crazy for no reason. Well yeah a reason, the reason is the author added a ton of crap to everything.

My suggestion: get a quick start mod and load them both separately, teleport with the "get all waypoints" console command and check out the cities for yourself.

I ran ETAC with http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58275/?

and it worked great

Holds is a bunch of lazy copy and paste jobs put into their own world spaces so it breaks literally everything. Use ETAC.

If you like the poo poo everywhere look, the guy who makes the lite versions of JK also made a version that's JK Lite mixed with Dawn of Lite so you can get the best of both worlds without your graphics card burning the house down.

I just downloaded Skyrim for the first time in years and I've started to mod it.

I've got a decent set of mods to begin with and everything seems to load ok, however once I start the Helgin Carriage ride the thing starts bouncing wildly.

I'm not quite sure which mod may be causing it. I'm about to start disabling them one at a time but can anyone point me at a potential culprit?

Immersive Weapons. Get that in addition to Weaponizer. Get Complete Crafting Overhaul Rebuilt to integrate JSwords directly into the game in a far better way than JSwords standalone does.

Thanks.

Just getting SkyUI Error 5's now.

Trying to figure out what is causing it. Most sites just say to uncheck the SWF checks in the Advance menu but I'm still trying to see if I can figure out what's causing the problem.

Try moving SkyUI.esp higher up your load order. I put mine first thing. Also, you do have SKSE installed, right?

edit: also, you should probably get USLEEP, the unofficial patch.

I've tried installing it via Steam a few times. Says it's there but doesn't show up under Data Files.

I'm going to install it manually.

SKSE isn't a mod that you actually activate. It's just a .dll file in your data directory. I can't imagine that working through Steam. Just plop it in your data folder, SKSE is pretty much a requirement anymore. It won't hurt anything. Also, if you plan on doing any more modding than that, please stay away from workshop stuff and get things from the Nexus and use a mod manager. It will make your life much easier.

edit: Not your data folder, your main Skyrim directory with the exe in it. My bad.
