Elections have turned into big business, especially in years when the established industries in the US didn't mind so much who won. Also don't forget that Trump is getting huge amounts of free media publicity (as well as the people know that the Media Hates Trump, and the People Hate the Media, and so the People Like Trump). And his campaign has gained traction through word of mouth primarily, not ad buys. But there will probably be a big ad push in the last few months for the hell of it. You're just used to a corporate, clinical, marketed rigged horse race campaign, this is something different.
