Toon Struck (that awesome adventure game where live action Christopher Lloyd was pulled into a cartoon world of his own making) had a processor speed issue where towards the end of the game there was a roulette sort of situation where you had to hit a button to stop it at the right time. Obviously it went way too fast.

No, they're smart. The problem is that they're smart and lazy, which means they'll take the path of least resistance, like making stuff depend on processor speed or framerate. :v:

Are the Zone of the Enders HD versions worth it, bearing in mind that I used to own ZoE on PS2 but my only attempt in playing it ended about five minutes in when I decided I'd be hosed if I played a game with a whiny Shinji protagonist?

Yeah people who complain about game coders... Have never seen any other coders.

I "write code" at work and it's laughable.

I'm playing it right now and it a nice package that leaves some things to be desired.

the camera control for both games should have been updated to standard 3rd person instead of that loving awful ps2 snap behind the character mode that games 2 gens ago always used. its really annoying but maybe its just a personal hangup of mine idk.

the graphics in 1 don't look very good but 2 looks pretty nice.

the translation in 2 is like an asian market translation and not a localization so they say things that are incredibly unnatural and odd in English. 1 sounds more natural but has the child voices that you said you don't like.

they are good games and the whole thing takes like 12 hours to beat. 1 gives you some freedom and side missions while 2 gives you a more linear game in exchange for making the combat actually a little interesting, varied, and challenging

They didn't change it for the HD remake and you should really embrace the utter insanity of the dialogue in ZoE2.

FWIW ZoE1 is a much worse game than ZoE2 (which isn't to say it's terrible) and you can safely skip it and go straight to ZoE2, if money is tight and you only want to buy one of the two. If you're getting both, it's short enough that it's worth playing through once, just because there's a couple of recurring characters.

Do you want to see Leon Kennedy curse every vehicle he touches to die in a flaming wreck?
Do you want to see the son of Wesker fight a Tyrant to the death with his bare hands?
Do you want to see Chris Redfield fail to accomplish anything?

It has all these things but don't expect a traditional resident evil game out of it.

Even weirder, Zone of the Enders 1 actually works great on the 360, but Zone of the Enders 2 works great after the patch on the PS3. Only learned this through Chip's ongoing LP for the HD Collection.

I will chime in to say that I LOVE RE4 & RE5 but hate RE6 :( It's full of bullshit "gotcha" segments where it seems like you *have* to take damage. Also from what I saw of a more competent playthrough, if you aren't using counters religiously, you're not playing it correctly.

RE6 when played well looks like a blast, but since I could never get the feel of counters in even RE: Revelations, it just destroyed me.

THAT BEING SAID, it could still be right up your alley :v: Personally, though, I felt extremely disappointed that I couldn't play it well and enjoy it.

i am a hardcore invert guy and it hasn't been a problem for me because you never really need to aim your shots or anything due to the lock on system. the triangle and x buttons being used for up and down respectively for some reason doesn't hurt my brain the way it would if they put it on a stick that way.

Call of Juarez is a bit of a strange series. Two of its games, The Cartel and Gunslinger are pretty much standalone from the first two games, Call of Juarez and Bound in Blood.

Bound in Blood is my favorite Call of Juarez game. It would probably help to play the first game before playing Bound in Blood, but should be great on its own as it's a prequel to the first game. Bound in Blood also features probably the best cover system in a first person shooter that I've seen in any game.

I highly recommend it.

A bit of a warning though: I've only played the PC version.

Did you play it at launch? It got patched a lot and removed tons of irritating stuff, including a lot of unavoidable damage, for example from things like the dogs in the graveyard - they made it a ton easier to evade their leaps.

More games need PVP in the regular campaign ala Dark Souls. I loved those parts in RE6 where players could invade your game as various monsters at key points. Ruining Leon's day just as they were about to escape on that bus was amazing.

I played the crap out of that game, the movement and combat were so fun. Going from that to Revelations made the latter feel really dull since I couldn't Max Payne all over the place.

I'm 2/3rds through zoe2 now and i don't like the game as much as i thought i would. i liked getting to set the pace of the first game by choosing to do side missions to break up the flow. the sequel just hates the player with gauntlets like this:

timed mission > gimmick boss > gimmick boss > escort mission > invisible maze > elevator maze

one or two more sessions and i'll be done with it thankfully.
