Yeah, I suppose that's true. Finding out that the actors were frustrated with how badly Voyager was done really made me feel a lot better about them, like finding out Wil Wheaton hated Wesley Crusher as much as the audience did.

Always thought Beltran was cool, though. He was Chuck Norris' sidekick in Lone Wolf McQuade and Jesse Mach's murdered partner in the Street Hawk pilot. That's some pretty good 80s credentials.

A good idea for Voyager would have been the Maquis crew showing Janeway all the weird off-label uses for Starfleet technology that no one in the Federation would need to consider in their post-scarcity utopia, like converting a transporter room into a giant industrial replicator that can manufacture things at sub-quantum tolerances.

This is exactly why I will never again have anything to do with the movies until someone murders JJ Abrams. They took arguably the most iconic scene in the history of the series, Spock's great humanizing moment, and gave it to Kirk in a movie that was nothing more than a bad "re-imagining" of the best* Star Trek movie.

* Some people would say that's The voyage Home, but those people are wrong.

And Spock can jump up on the captains chair with a guitar and scream "rock out with your cock out" to the Romulans while strumming a guitar and doing the Gene Simmons tongue and the whole bridge crew will carry him to the space bar on their shoulders.

Thing is, it's not difficult. You just look at the situation Voyager is in after Caretaker and think of all the problems it would cause a ship to be cut off any chance of resupply. So you get ideas like having to cannibalise the ship for parts, using technology from other species, using Federation technology in unorthodox ways, etc.

In a way, I think the worst episode might well have been Equinox. Not for the episode itself, but for committing the cardinal sin in fiction of introducing another story more interesting than the one being told. I'd far rather have been watching the adventures of a crew who have decided their survival is the most important thing over the bipolar adventures of Janeway.

Yeah but people just don't like shows that you can't just watch in whatever order you please. If they had to make a new nacelle out of scrap parts and you didn't see that episode you'd have to stop watching the show altogether because the mystery of the new nacelle would be maddening.

The exact opposite of the approach they did for Enterprise.

Since Guinan was on Earth in the 1500s or whenever Mark Twain was around, they should make a show where she goes around collecting bits of technology left behind by aliens in an effort to keep the white house safe. It'll be like Warehouse 13 but fun and sexy and with a Star Trek tie-in. It's called Coffee and Doughnuts because Whoopi Goldberg is coffee and her partner is a Pakled who's always bumbling up their cases. Here's a mockup I did of what she should look like to bring in the 18-35 men audience.

To be fair, if you've seen her on any other show you know she really likes to ham it up. Kate has practically made a career out of overacting.

The Borg managed to assimilate a vessel that was part of that evolved dinosaur world ship convoy. The Borg didn't manage to take down the world ship, but were able to figure out where the dinosaurs home planet was in the Alpha quadrant, so they sent a lone cube in that direction to check it out.
