It's kind of weirdly ironic how many of these mods use stolen assets and get taken down, considering all that dumb PC/console modder drama....

Sorry about my lack of knowledge on what the hell I am doing, but I am trying to follow the advice of the OP and merge my weapon mods leveled lists.

I downloaded FO4Edit, but I have no idea how to install it seeing as there is no documentation at all about the install process. (Other than changing the .exe name to FO4edit.exe)

Right now it is on my desktop in its self contained folder, but if I run the .exe, it says "no .ini" Am I supposed to have it in the main Fallout 4 folder? If not, how do I throw my weapon mods into it in order to get their lists correct?

Yes, all of FO4Edit's files go in the Fallout 4 main folder, alongside the .exe. It reads your load order as set when you last ran the game.

Install one of the mods that multiplies power radiator distance or that adds new power radiators with extra distance.

Or, get the DLCs and run power conduits across the walls or ceiling.

I don't think it's fair for mods to get uploaded to bethesda.net without the original author's consent (or at least proper credit given to the author). The PC Master Race bullshit is just that, but content creators need to have control over attribution and distribution of their content. It doesn't matter if it's a movie, a song, a game, a video, or a mod. Content scalpers are awful, and when you deny authors the right to control the distribution of their work, you end up with bullshit like vines getting uploaded to youtube getting uploaded to instagram getting uploaded to facebook, with millions of watermarks and the original author's identity removed. How many videos have you seen on Instagram or Facebook of poo poo you already saw on Youtube or Vine, but with the creator's identity removed and the scalper's identity plastered on top? That poo poo's totally unfair to the creators, and it's happened before.

Acting as if the nexus/bethesa.net situation stuff is just drama is ignoring actual plagiarism.

This one is interesting, a companion that learns, adapts and takes care of itself! and not only does he have voice acting, he's not a real doll or obnoxious YouTube tribute character! BONUS!

Is that guy actually a companion? From the description it sounds like he just does his own thing.

Yeah, it sounds like he's basically an experiment in trying to actually make one of the "smart" NPCs that Bethesda's always claimed will be in their next game.

Really liking the alternative "perk pathing" mod in the OP but I think it may have affected the game in an odd way - I no longer get notifications for XP or level gain. Like if I go up a level I have to notice it from inventory. Not sure how to fix it.

But then it comes right back to the same thing that came up back when the paid mods thing was going around and how much of a mod is something the mod creator actually owns. Back then Bethesda had told the modders they got on board that everything was cool and that they could just do whatever but then people started firing off claims about stolen assets and that went down in flames. Yet again all this bethesda.net stuff is showing is that they don't really want to make an effort on their end to see that things are being done legit by shoving all the responsibility of taking down mods claimed to be stolen on to the users themselves and forcing them to file yet more claims instead of just having any kind of moderation system.

It very much does matter actually, in fact I think that's the entire crux of the conversation. Modders do not have ownership of their mods the same way an author does over a book, nor should they.

In an ideal world everyone gets credited for their contribution to the hobby and no one spams a modder's Nexus page with console port begging, but I still don't see how "pirated mods" are a failure of Bethnet in its current state so much as the natural behavior of a hobby where no one owns the things they create and host them on the internet free of charge. I don't see it as a problem that needs to be addressed, and any support Bethesda has extended to modders in this regard is effectively charity.

If someone makes a texture or a model for a mod wouldn't they own that texture or model. If someone records voice acting for a mod wouldn't they own that. It's more complex than just Bethesda can do whatever.

Nobody owns anything on the internet. I mean yeah they have the rights to a thing, but if there's nothing to protect a thing it's gonna get shared around. It's a failure of Beth's because they don't have any proactive protection in place. They have good ideas but no foresight.

I think you mean questionable enforceability. Bethesda is in Maryland. Which is one of only two states to have passed the UCITA. So if it went to court in Maryland, the software or service EULA would not fall under the UCC like it would in most other states.

tl; dr: Probably enforceable.

Another Life looks like the only other thing there that would touch perks or experience, and I stopped updating it when he started making it not good so I lost track of what changes it makes now. I don't think I ever noticed xp gain myself either way because I play with the UI completely turned off, but I'll see if I can duplicate the problem. Did you use perkpaths on a new or existing game, and are you seeing the problem with all xp gain or just doing certain actions?

I'm guessing that's it - I went straight for Vault Dweller to skip the extended intro and it probably gave me that "+5% XP from all sources" thing. Thing is, up until a certain point I was getting the notifications - it was only about halfway into building my Sanctuary fortress did I notice that placing stuff was no longer showing XP gains. I assumed I'd hit some sort of soft cap but then nothing was showing the gains.
