Bleh, she's the MP for my hometown. She came to our sixth form before the 2010 election and came off as really unpleasant. My friend was really rude to her when she wouldn't answer her question though, so that's a nice memory.

MikeCrotch posted:I can't understand the PLP's thought processes here. Like, surely if they thought they could win a leadership contest they would have actually called one by now. Or if they didn't think they could win one, they would be trying to mobilise the CLP and get people to join the Labour party to vote for whoever their candidate is? They have done, but this was their tactic last time round and it turns out there aren't that many people who are roused to activity by "the Tories, but slightly less so"

Theresa May has literally blocked human rights investigators from investigating Yarl's Wood. And then when it came out about how much rape and violence goes on in that prison she blocked mention of who runs the place because it might put financial interests at risk. Anybody who still supports her is ether scum or doesn't know any of this. Pissflaps, given that you've been in this thread for years and know all this can you tell me why you like Theresa May?

I guess i'm just finding it weird that the PLP are pinning literally all of their hopes onto making Corbyn crack, which is a farce since either he would have cracked by now or is just going to peace out after the Chilcot report and Blair is hanging outside the Hague. I would have expected them to be making some kind of effort into attempting to win a prospective leadership challenge instead of tacitly admitting they are going to get crushed again. What is the PLP explanation for why they can't get enough people to join the Labour party to support them in overcoming Momentum/Corbynistas?
