EvilElmo posted:The current situation has nothing to do with the Greens or the Libs. The ALP ran a good campaign, the Greens talked about the ALP all campaign if anything damaging their vote rather than improving it. So, what you're saying is, the greens screwed it up, but it didn't have any actual impact? Okay.

The (soon to be) hung parliament is 100% Greens fault. Greens are so bad that they won't let major parties form government.

Gotta say, I think the Raptor Fag avatar buying is a lot funnier than the standard 300 pages of pony porn. I'm tired of waiting for an election result. How many people does the aec have counting? What is the record for longest time taken to find out forms government?

I think it took 2 weeks to finish Reps counting in 2010 because that's how long they have to wait for postal votes etc to come in. It's not the limiting factor at the moment yet though. We may know for sure who gets 6 year Senate terms until the Senate sits.

Malcolm is certainly feeling the pressure, what a colossal disaster for the image of "unified and totally not dysfunctional". The longer this drags out, the better I might think. Though I stand to be corrected.

starkebn posted:Facebook just told me Belgium once waited 541 days so we've got a ways to go yet I'm legit curious about how countries can function like that. Don't we need working government to set budgets, interact with foreign powers and generally keep things ticking over? If a caretaker government were to find a way to delay vote-counting indefinitely, that would be a great backdoor into a dictatorship. Maybe if Australia were to dissolve into anarchy it might prompt the Governor-General to get off his arse
