The acheros is the na'khul ultra-rare drop. 12 turn, 5/3 weps, battle cloak, Intel and pilot seating. No hanger and it's engineering commander and console, but I'd go that anyway.

I think the Akira class is a fun ship. You go fast in addition to being able to fart out tons of fighters and torpedoes (if you have it's special console from the c-store.) Plus, I like the "new" (not new anymore lol) designs from First Contact and the later seasons of DS9. The Soverign, Akira, Steamrunner, Saber. Too bad the Steamrunner is exclusive to a $25 Steam starter pack.

Rei Ayanami is an anime character named after a WWII warship. I... might be a turbonerd. Hi there, I'm playing Star Trek Online! I'm not the only one, because the Akira-class was literally named after the movie Akira and the U.S.S. Yamato was named after the Space Battleship Yamato. I typically give my ships boring names that you could actually see in Star Trek like that, like U.S.S. Endeavor, U.S.S. Discovery, etc. If I got a big, bad Federation ship, I would probably name it the Executor but the only fed ship that really fits the bill of a Super Star Destroyer is probably the U.S.S. Vengeance. Maybe the Jupiter-class too, but that one just looks too big, fat and friendly. Like a big space whale.

You'd think they'd name a show after a ship that wasn't one of Japan's finest entries in WW2's hotly contested "Who can come up with the biggest waste of time, money, and resources in the name of building a superweapon that ends up accomplishing nothing" championship, though.

In fairness, the ludicrous superweapon that we came up with worked pretty well. Also since I'm sure some space rich sort is already home and playing, what ship skins does the Vengeance have access to? The full Fedlist? Just its own? The JJTrek one too, and if so, with or without requiring the JJConnie?

So with the new weapons coming out should I be running phaser beam arrays or still something else? Someone should write an updated guide of how to play the game so i can just fly around hitting space bar.

Best moment in the expansion so far is when you're in the admiral's office getting your first promotion in the TOS arc, Spock suddenly walks in, spouts a few sown-together lines in disjointed audio quality, and then walks back out while your character and the admiral just mutely stare into space. I don't think it's the effect Cryptic was going for, but it was the funniest thing I've seen in this game.

So, it's actually pretty possible that it is named after the Space Battleship Yamato.

The Yamato in TNG wasn't named after the Anime according to production info info, and they usually admit when it is a reference, so it is probably true. The Gal-X variant in STO however was named after both.

Small thing but the thunder crash effect when a torpedo hits an intact shield facing is straight out of Wrath of Khan and extremely cool and good, well done Cryptic.

I did the final TOS Only mission 'Battle of Caleb IV' in my Vengeance (teamed with a friend). Non-TOS characters can't have the missions shared, but you can join them by going to the system in sector space. The cutscenes are hilarious because you're like 3-4 times bigger then the ship they were designed for. That mission is also great for getting TOS era Space loot, the Klingons just spawn forever. http://i.imgur.com/uoy26yZ.png Tuskin38 fucked around with this message at 01:37 on Jul 7, 2016 |
