Dunno if this is serious but it means the point at which the game is "finished" in terms of them printing a DVD which contains the stuff that they're going to send to the factory to be printed on all the DVDs people will buy in the shops at release. so to make a 2016 release, squadron 42 needs to go gold by november

I love the fact that SC will be beaten to market by half a dozen games before SQ42 even is shown to the public.

CIG was beaten by their direct competitor, Frontier with Elite.

They will soon be beaten by NMS, then CoD, then Mass Effect, maybe Starfield.

So CIG will now be entering a market with half a dozen AAA titles (minus NMS) that is taking up the mindshare? Market share of "space games". They essentially have cornered themselves out of their own market.

If any version of SC or SQ42 even sees the light of day the sales will be abysmally poor.

Not so much a tragedy in the true literary sense, I'm partial to Plato's 'Repbulic,' (for obvious reasons).
I also very much like Aeschylus' 'Prometheus Bound.'

Nobody is expecting them to show actual gameplay at citizen con. It would be incredibly embarrassing if they did. I don't give a poo poo how much overtime they put into it there isn't anything that they could show there that could be considered anything but laughing stock.

To be or not to be-that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And, by opposing, end them. To die, to sleep-
No more-and by a sleep to say we end
The heartache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to-'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep-
To sleep, perchance to dream. Aye, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause. There's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life.

This is fantastic news. I'm not ashamed to admit I'm excited about the game, though my expectations are modest.

Made some minor revisions to the Space Games Development Timeframes chart to more accurately reflect the reality.

---

Space Game Development Timeframes chart v1.1

Patch notes:

- Moved date of GOLD status for "No Man's Sky" from late June to early July.
- Adjusted current PRE-ALPHA duration of "Star Citizen / Squadron 42" to early July.
- Changed subhead to note "Development Budgets" specifically, as some confusion existed as to whether these budgets include Marketing expenses. (They don't.)
- Added chart version / date to lower right corner.
- Minor adjustments to more precisely reflect known launch dates.

Citizen Con will be a hastily put together not-really-in-the-game cutscene of Mark Hamill's character talking about some poo poo, and a new ship jpeg will go on sale. Backers will eat it up.

Keep in mind that the PU being in maintenance mode while everything goes into Squadron 42 is still just dirty unbeliever rumors. Same thing with Squadron 42 needing until late 2017 to finish.

CIG are selling poo poo like nothing has changed, people (like MoMA) think they'll have the recent concepts sometime this year, with multiple systems. Sandi is posting pictures of the various teams to prove that people are still employed.

CItizen Con will be any pre rendered footage they haven't previously shown, throwing it all out there. Probably a new helmet flip animation to desperate applause
