It was fun, but compared to NV, which had a bunch of the OG Fallout team working on it, the writing wasn't good.

People don't like fallout 4 because they are used to the classic games which were really well written RPGs with lots of opportunity for role play as opposed to glorified open world shooter games with no opportunity for role play as the new ones.

This is the first time I've been exposed to Fallout 4 for longer than a 1:30 trailer and I can't shake the impression that it's Theme Park STALKER.

Honestly the part about nv I liked was that it was just a decently balanced game with good combat and poo poo, like i enjoy the flavor of beth games but usually they somehow make it so min/maxing is the only way to make semi competent characters, nv doesn't have any obtuse and counter intuitive ways to ruin your character. If that describes fo4 I'd be all for it

My favorite completely unhelpful bug in FO4 is that the perks given by the scanner(targeting?) helmet and berry mentats(highlight enemies through walls) would cause any dialogue challenges in quests to instantly fail.

Fallout 4's game play is leagues better then 3/NV, but I ended up stopping when every single quest was: "Go to this obscure building you've already cleared out previously in 1 or 2 other quests, and clear it out again"

There were a lot of paths through the game and it was very well written, and character customization was much deeper than "how best to shoot mans". F3 and 4 weren't bad games by any means (ok 3 was pretty janky), the just suffer from the expectation of their legacy.
