Yea I don't think the video needed to be made at all but if for some reason it did he could have just said 'hey I know you guys know I love ghostbusters so I'll just clear up now. Not interested in the new movie, probably won't see it, sorry if that's a bummer.'

Instead he did the typical 'ugh but this also ruins the REAL ghostbusters by merely existing' and yea, those are the kinds of ways shitheads talk about the movie, because shockingly the overlap in 'creepy weirdo' and 'ascribes too much inherent value to consuming a movie' is strong. I don't think he's some sexist but it's not like he didn't know the contexts around the movie, he had to know he sounded a lot like those kinds of 'reviewers' in that video and people less familiar with him could easily lump him in with them.

Maybe just don't make a video announcing how little you care about a thing, like, most of the world manages to not make a video publicly saying they're not going to see a summer blockbuster. You can just do that too, like a normal person. Or hell, crazy thought, maybe wait till the movie's out and see what others are saying about it before instantly declaring that you won't ever see it, that's a thing reactionary babymen do.

You know this is the same mindset that drives the "shitheads" you mention.

Generally one of two reasons:
1) If it flops, studios will immediately go, "Welp, looks like nobody wants to see movies with womz in them, back to the sausagefest!" like they've always done, while if it's a hit we might maybe get a chance to possibly see one or two more movies that star ladies that AREN'T chick flicks.

2) Nobody wants the smug heard round the world from sexist douches (and/or if it's a huge hit there will be copious outpourings of bitterness from that sector, which is always good for some schadenfreude).

1 is bad, yeah. It's Hollywood being idiots and having movies balloon up in budget just makes every risk almost nonviable. So if this tanks, we'll get less women centered movies.

2 is a bit childish, isn't it? You want to support a (potentially bad) movie just to spite some jackasses?

Also regarding Ghostbusters and other reboots, Comicbookgirl19 did a good video on why we're getting all of these

The Warrens are human garbage who went into houses with, say, a drunk father, a child showing sexual and physical abuse, and a wife with bruises who claims she got them in her sleep, and said "YEP DEMONS DID THIS, THIS WAS DEMONS FOR SURE" and then later would say 'pft yea we knew that was all bullshit' as if that doesn't make them even worse people. It's not so much 'believe in ghosts' as it is 'both of these trash people should burn in Hell'.

It was during The Wyoming Incident video, I think, when he's talking about the spooky ritual. I'm fine with not showing that kind of thing out of concern for people's mental well being or to keep kids from doing stupid poo poo, but adding "seriously guys, you shouldn't do this because these frauds say so!!!" was kind of dumb. To be fair, maybe he was just referencing them for atmosphere and the Warrens and their ilk just get my hackles up too easily, but I'd prefer if he just let the stories be spooky and not inject his own spookiness. v:v:v

Yeah, he mentioned it might have "paranormal implications" for half a second which was eyerolly, but he was mainly concerned about panic attacks. I looked up the ritual though and I'm really not convinced it's dangerous to anybody without some serious, serious, serious anxiety or PTSD problems. Like, you probably had to have been hospitalized for it as some point problems.

Here's the part he omitted:

I can't imagine it'd be a fun experience. But dangerous? You'd be in more danger tripping over your night stand after turning off the lights than you would be with a crazy panic attack. Like maybe you shouldn't go to that place if you literally suffer from war or rape flashbacks, but it's not going to hurt some dumb teenager trying it for lulz.
