Holy poo poo, you ARE among the living! We still meet up Thursdays, although in the summer it gets steamy there so it's not quite as frequent. If you post up for a game you'll definitely get one though. I'm indisposed this week as I'm moving (still staying around the area though) but will be able to host games at my place and I'll be heading over there again in the coming weeks.

So here are a couple lists. If you guys got something better I'd love to hear it. Remember I don't have access to a full Battle Company or any Psychic Deathstars. I currently have the one Librarian in Terminator Armor and perhaps Tigurius could be painted in time.

List 1 - Lots of Obj Sec, with Turn 2 flyers, unfortunately the Raptor Wing can't be part of the Gladius, so I miss out on some doctrines.
Total Roster Cost: 1850

1850 Pts - Codex: Ultramarines Roster

Formation: Battle Demi-Company (55#, 1500 pts)
. . 1 Battle Demi-Company, 0 pts
. . . . 1 Captain in Terminator Armour, 120 pts
. . . . . . 1 The Primarch's Wrath, 20 pts
. . . . 4 Command Squad, 132 pts = 4 * 18 (base cost 18) + Plasma gun x4 60
. . . . . . 1 Apothecary, 15 pts
. . . . . . 1 Drop Pod, 35 pts
. . . . 9 Tactical Squad, 131 pts = 9 * 14 (base cost 14) + Flamer 5
. . . . . . 1 Sergeant, 24 pts = (base cost 14 + Combi-Flamer x1 10)
. . . . . . 1 Drop Pod, 50 pts = (base cost 35) + Deathwind Missile Launcher 15

. . . . 1 Stormtalon Gunship, 125 pts = (base cost 110 + Twin-Linked Lascannon 15)

List 2 - I thought this one over quite a bit. Ultimately, I wanted to use the Stormlance if I decided to roll with armor, and coming up with the proper support forces was pretty hard. For a while I was trying to figure out a good way to run my Ultramarines as a Scarblade Det, but couldn't come up with a list that I was satisfied with. What you have here is my attempt to run White Scars, while still having air support backup, while not running the risk of reserve rolls. With this in mind I took the Raptor Wing again. I decided that the Scarblade Detachment bonuses were rather minor since I lacked any bikes or other units that would effectively benefit from them, but decided Scars Chapter Tactics were still in my favor since lacking doctrines would be mitigated by the Stormlance's ability to reroll shooting at targets securing objectives, while Scout and Hit and Run would greatly benefit my mobility.

1850 Pts - Codex: White Scars Roster

Total Roster Cost: 1850

Formation: Stormlance Battle Demi-Company (AoD) (54#, 1380 pts)

: Allied Detachment (2#, 150 pts)
. . 1 Vindicare Assassin (Elite) [OA], 150 pts

List 3 - Combined Arms Det - I was basically unsure what to do, but the last two lists are so Demi-Company generic, that I wanted to run with something that had a wider range of models. This one I made with the assumption that Tigurius would be alive to lead it, which is important for the Reserve Manipulation. I didn't really take advantage of that here, but I was thinking of swapping the Assault Terminators for the equivalent points of Honor Guard with a StormRaven Transport, and dropping the Terminator Librarian for a Chaplain to ride with them.

Had some time last night, so I wrapped up this guy. I've wanted to do a marksman for my Deathwatch and after some cursory digging, it looks like the Raptors chapter is definitely that. They actually have some pretty cool Forgeworld rules. Makes me wonder if any of those chapter tactics might make it into the Deathwatch book that's rumored to be coming out.

Let me introduce you to Sergeant Kaedras of the Raptors Chapter. As a veteran of the Taros campaign, Kaedras is an expert at fighting Tau. Like many of his brothers, he's also an expert marksman, and favors stealth over more overt tactics. He's equipped with an Astartes Sniper Rifle and a Camo Cloak. Many of his brothers think his tactics cowardly, particularly those from the Imperial Fists chapter, but Kaedras knows that it's better to win quickly and quietly than risk losing a loud, protracted fight.

Ah, I forgot about that. This is making me strongly consider making babby's first Skyhammer. I could drop the Cult Mechanicus angle, which are fairly immobile, and instead have the mandatory Devastator unit bumped to 8 models with 4 Grav-Cannons in a Drop Pod, swap the HQ to a Cataphractii Terminator Captain, and then include Vulkan as a Strike Force Command option. Pricey, but it would be a fun and simple way of nuking his Wraithknight without committing more than half of my army to do so.

Is Vulkan truly worth it? I know he is granting you Master-Crafted Meltas, but the tactical doctrine you will receive from the Demi-Company kind of makes up for this. You already have one Captain as a tax, who is made useful by the presence of Cataphractii Armor. I am not saying that Vulkan isn't a decent Captain, just trying to understand your main intent with taking him.

Also, don't forget Dozer Blades on Rhinos...

Yeah, I was considering swapping him out for something, I was mostly keeping him for fluffiness' sake, though he's a solid tank for a unit, really quite hard to get off an objective, and an on-the-run S6 Heavy Flamer sounded appealing. The main issue is that if I did replace him I'd need to find models that met the requirements of the Flameblade Strike Force, of which I don't have all that many. If you can think of some other options within 190pts that would be a stronger and fit the requirements I'd be willing to try them out.

Just looking at the list the question becomes? Who is he traveling with? That reduced tactical squad? I feel a Captain's best spot is in combat if he isn't being used to grant army-wide buffs. Do you have any more Speeders to increase your Speeder Squadron, or a shooty Dreadnaught? You could even go command squad and put a shitload of flamers on them. The Demi-Company has lots of options to spend points.

I'd also consider dropping the Combi-Gravs on the Dev Sergeant and Terminator Captain, simply because you already have 20 Grav shots coming from the Devastators themselves, it just seems a tad overkill, and the unit already lacks the ability to split-fire, so I feel anything that 26 shots will kill can certainly be done by 20. On the flip you could go with 3 Cannons, take the 2 Combis and save yourself 15 points with 21 shots on the landing, and followed by 15 for later turns. Chances on that unit is going to take a shitload of return fire. I just played against Dark Eldar using a minimal Dev Squad, and my Terminator Captain quickly died to a barrage of return fire along with the sergeant and one of the Cannons.

Since you're a bit lacking on tank busting, perhaps outfit a couple of Tac Squads with Melta/Combi-Melta, and add a Command Squad with 4x Flamers and an Apothecary?

Also, some comments on my above lists would be welcome.

I put in a huge Forgeworld order the other day and it got delivered to my house. I check the UPS delivery and it says it was collected by a boy at the address. There's no kids in my building, and after talking to all my neighbors, none of them know anything either. Turns out some kid was waiting at my doorstep and stole my group order of about $700 of Forgeworld stuff! I checked the park nearby and a bunch of the trashcans on my street but couldn't find any trace of it. I opened an investigation with UPS so hopefully they'll figure out what happened and/or replace it if they can't find it. Needless to say I'm pretty pissed about this whole thing though.

That sucks, man. I had the same thing happen when I shipped out Uroboros' Drop Pods I painted. Days went by after it was supposed to have arrived and I eventually called and had them investigate it. They came back a week later telling me the driver had dropped it off at the backdoor, which was impossible as the location didn't have one accessible. I put in a notice for reimbursement and management review but came back weeks later only to tell me "tough poo poo" and they would not offer to reimburse us for it. I was really quite bummed out for a while.

A month later the package appeared with absolutely no explanation or apology. :iiam:

I opened an investigation with UPS so hopefully they'll figure out what happened and/or replace it if they can't find it. Needless to say I'm pretty pissed about this whole thing though.

Dude that sucks. UPS and Fedex leave poo poo on my front door all the time, even when they're supposed to get a signature, and I'm always worried about somebody taking something.

Luckily I live in an apartment complex now so usually they take it to the front office and then I can get it from the later when I get off work. But its always seemed crazy to me that they don't seem to give a poo poo about leaving things around.

Ironically the only time they wont is when its something cheap I don't care much about, where I want them to leave it outside. THEN I'll get a notice saying "Whoops we missed you, you'll have to come pick it up yourself from the local fedex location..." oh gently caress you.

I had thought that the punchline in my post was implicit. Unless... you're not a cop, are you? You have to tell me if you're a cop.

There's some truth to my joke. Whoever stole SRMs box obviously knew about him and his hobby, and they sent a kid to do it (unless it was just the kid). I guess it could be a coincidence, but who knew your group had just put in a massive order?

Unidentified spacecraft inbound from delta line.

All Silpheed squadrons scramble now!

Or some kid saw a big UPS box and just went for it.

People steal packages all the time regardless of what's in them, especially if they're light or easily hidden. I used to work for a fountain pen importer and we would routinely have those go missing on delivery to customers (sometimes worth hundreds or thousands of dollars) and UPS just sort of shrugged.

Oh poo poo. It was FRO KID!

Sorry to hear about that SRM. I hope you can figure something out with the postal service/delivery company or even Forge World themselves. They're not at fault for this, but it may be worth contacting them too.

I played two pickup games at my LGS since none of my friends had time to play this week. Not knowing my what factions my opponents would play, I brought an all-comers horde list. First match turned out to be against Eldar/Dark Eldar using a Distort cannon Wraithknight and endless hordes of Venoms. I play footslogging Tyranids. :shepicide:

Second match was against... Craftworld Eldar! This guy was also using a Wraithknight with a destroyer weapon. Fun times. The dude at least had the decency to play with a painted army instead of bare plastic:

I'm probably going to ask if my opponent is bringing a Lord of War before I accept to play another game next time, since I don't really have the tools to handle them(yet).

It's preferable to being gunned down by 4+ poison from across the board for sure. Unfortunately, the Knight being a Gargantuan Creature these days means it's very hard to kill it if you're stuck with melee bugs - between T8, FnP, the D strength close combat weapon and motherfucking stomp attacks it murdered all of my heavy hitters before being brought down by a hero Ravener with rending claws:

I find the biggest problem with Wraithknights and most Lords of War is not to be their weapons but just how non-interactive they end up being. Taking them down takes so much effort that you either have to commit your whole army to it or you're just better off ignoring it and staying as far away as possible, in which case neither you nor your opponent really gets to have much fun with the unit. I understand that GW doesn't want these units you paid a bunch of money and points for to go down easily, but unless I've tooled my army for taking down T8 W7 monstrous creatures, or AV13 6HP Superheavy walkers, it's just not that much fun to go up against them.

Seriously, just remove from play is so dumb. I like the idea of stomp, and anything that isnt a 6 is perfectly fine. Just the drat "this model is now gone and there is nothing you can do about it.

:wom: will blow your mind.
I am curious if Angron has a rule that ignores stomp attacks or at least the 6 result.

I mean I know that would not make it into the rules but a man can dream
