One of the problems with mission 14 is that the Viscount is scheduled to be interrogated at night, so if you deploy at night-time it screws up the interrogator's schedule.

As far as I can tell, that doesn't effect it too much. I'm not sure exactly when the trigger is, but when the interrogator and interpreter get to a certain point (after interrogating the lady and the dude together, and before they reach the house they interrogate the viscount at), the guard next to the viscount will give him a kick and escort him veeeeeery slooooowly to the interrogation spot. Other fun ways this mission likes to break: Sometimes the guy escorting the viscount will bring him to the place, and then the viscount just flops over in the doorway and the interogation crew stands there forever waiting for the viscount to reach them. Another time, the guard just never escort the viscount ever. I stood nearby vaping for three days without that guy even going to take a piss. I'm honestly still not 100% sure how I hosed up this mission, it looks like the duo hung out in the nearby house with the intel, never actually bothered to interrogate anyone, then the guards executed the prisoners because whatever. So... what the heck kind of asspull did I just witness with the Paz stuff in this episode? I'm just like, zuh? And how/why is there an invisible box? "some cats are ok" better than disliking them all. Embrace the kittys. By the way just how do you go about picking which of the hundreds of weapons/items you want to bring with you? Especially the guns, many of them all seem the same? Been wondering this throughout Peace Walker and now here. Come to think of it, I also felt overwhelmed by the amount of weapns MGS4 had. I'd be scrolling through the lists and my mind would just shutoff. Captain Bravo posted:Oh, I guess Dan just doesn't know about this, then.

Let's Play MGSV Phantom Pain Episode 11 - You Can't Do That Sometimes DD's dog AI is a little too accurate, in that dogs like to stand exactly where you don't want them to stand. Also apparently his eyepatch says "KONGOU Military Supply Co., Ltd. - High Performance Dog Gear - GREAT HOWL Series." Just a reminder, we're on Arcade Pit tonight and streaming MGSV tomorrow! I'll probably post here as a reminder for both before we start because it's my thread and I do what I want

Also, as an aside, Africa is full of things you can do with C4 that are absolutely amazing. For instance, my fastest clear time for a certain mission involving a truck involves putting two full packs of C4 in a clump (not directly on top of each other, though, but within less than a foot of each other) about 2 meters northwest of the truck, waiting for the twist of the mission, then hitting the detonator. BAM. Problem solved. You can also use pre-placed C4 and a grenade/rocket launcher to take out the walker gear barricade before it even becomes a problem. EDIT: I FORGOT ONE MORE THING RE: DOG SKINS. There was going to be two more costumes available for D-Dog: Miller and Ocelot. The descriptions that still exist in-game mention that this is "the next best thing" to having the respective person follow you into the field. pick-e posted:I don't think I've ever played an open world game yet so these issues are all new to me, for better or worse? Fair enough, I'll explain so I won't sound like an rear end. Open world games live on the idea that there is a wide map you have free reign over. You can move and explore as much as you please, without being constrained by any requirements (or at least, that's the ideal). Here's the problem: You need to fill that poo poo with stuff. Let's take Skyrim for our case study. Skyrim is a fantastic example of an open world game (whether folks admit it or not), it's filled with dungeons, most of which are accessible at any point in the game, it has varying climates to keep things interesting. You have a bunch of different subplots you can ferret out by yourself (Labirynthian, the foresworn sacrifice grounds, the Dragon Priests and so on). The game also offers character variety but in quantity-over-quality sense. You have a lot of characters with various degrees of plot importance and personality and the hope is that eventually one of them will stick with you somehow. Skyrim also has a pretty consistent thematic narrative to it, you play as a heroic dragonslayer and the game revolves around your legend. There's not a lot of complex themes to be explored here, but the story is consistent with making you feel like a legend in the making so you don't mind. Watch_Dogs is a game that tried to have quality over quantity, but as anyone who played it can tell you, the plot was a badly-stitched Frankenstein monster of sub-plots. The characterization was inconsistent and the themes of surveillance and internet availability are not really explored. You are ostensibly a good guy, but you put innocent people in harm's way for little reason. It doesn't help that the MC's personality is that of a dried vegetable at best and creepy at worst, in contrast to the characterization of side characters. The side missions are all the same, in contrast to Skyrim, with nothing to differentiate them. There are a few interesting ideas that come up, such as the main evil company using subliminal messages and how it affects the populace, but they rarely come up (Namely the company broadcast the Fibbonaci sequence and this comes up in one of the villains muttering to himself "1,2,3,5...1,2,3,5..." and a side quest serial killer marking his victims with the same sequence). The inconsistent tone of the story and the bipolar characterization is usually a sign of a trouble development, rewrites and executive meddling. W_D was supposed to be the hot new IP, and while it sold gang-busters, its tepid presentation and forced promotion basically poisoned its reputation. Too late to affect sales, but enough to cause fast price drops. And I say this as a person who defends this game from dumb criticism, such as "YOU CAN BUY THE GRENADE LAUNCHER BY THE FIRST LEVEL!!!11!" which is heard on these forums. Wow. It's almost like it's a video game where you can grind cash to get yourself an early game advantage or something. MGSPP has the problem with the open world not really being able to present the themes Kojima is trying to talk about. When a player can be waylaid by a soldier garrison to find diamonds, it becomes difficult to discuss how missing limbs are related to Moby Dick are related to a mercenary corporation's war against Cipher which will ultimately be futile. Couple that with Konami's meddling and voice actor budget constraints and here we are.

Or in the mission dan did with the walker gears.

Or in the mission dan did with the walker gears. While lethal, I was so very, very glad when someone told me the "Overpressure" upgrades for the revolvers also ignored riot suits and their helmets. Their overall firepower also means you can put them down with some quick bodyshots, unlike the silencer capable semi auto AP guns where they are often not just alive, but still standing when I unload an entire mag/clip/thing full of bullets into their gut. So their only downside is you can't silence them. I wish the slug ammo shotguns did anything to riot armors though I just loving adore the slug pump actions, because they will absolutely gently caress up anything else on one shot. Even if you shoot a dude right in his vest, even if you shoot a dude in the foot. It will even gently caress up coms dishes in one shot when in their proper range (As opposed to wasting most of a silencer on an AR, if you want to be quiet about it). Airfoils are cool, and you can even silence the pump version... But I always feel like a dumbass when I cant break a radio with airfoils. Or things get finicky with a helmet+vest dude and 2-3 to the chin somehow counts as hitting his helmet that won't fly off his head because nonlethal (Or whatever reason helmet grunts can tank 3 airfoils without losing their helmet with my luck). Overpressure revolvers have become my sidearm of choice when not bringing a dart pistol. I do like me some rubber Uzi when going on an teenage soldier shooting spree, though. Admittedly, the game kind of auto-scales units to match the actual level of strength Mother Base is at, until eventually 90% of everyone has an A in something and S/S+ units become fairly common, with S++ being the real prizes.
