LordArgh posted:you have to wonder how chris evans was even considered for the job, let alone getting it. it's not like it wasn't already well known that he's an insufferable oval office. Like him or loathe him, you can't deny that he is a presenter with a good track record. No doubt the logic went 'we need a seriously good presenter, Evans has had good results in the past, therefore we hire Evans' You and I know he was a terrible match because we understand TG - but it is clear that those at the top didn't really understand the TG magic and didn;t realise just how grating he would be in that environment.

If you're in an environment with a bunch of blue collar guys, maybe popping out a flaccid dick while you're goofing off could be funny. If you whip out a full on boner, you're some kind of weirdo.

Chris Evans comes across as they type of kid to deliberately lose at soggy biscuit.

I dunno, blue-collar environments tend to be very male-dominated, homophobic environments, so I have a hard time imagining it even being funny there. I can't imagine an environment where somebody literally whipping their penis out would be funny or even OK. actually. Maybe I'm just repressed or something.

So, my boss knew the writers for this from her time at disney and apparently the penis game was a real thing along with the rest of the stuff in the movie. One of the guys worked at disney, another at tgi fridays right near disney and it was a combination of their experiences. Guess which one the penis game came from?

Whipping out your twig and two bits for anyone that doesn't expressly want to see them is pretty much sexual harassment full stop at minimum.

I thought that the Rolls Royce film/challenge was actually a high point for Evans. Yes he was clearly not a good fit for the show and was much better when he was more background fodder than primary presenter during the in-studios, and god almighty combining him with the disaster that evolved from Star in a Car was the first time I've not only skipped that segment, but EVERY SUBSEQUENT SEGMENT! But his passion and love and interaction with the car was a shining point for him. That's not to say that one piece would be any reason for him to stay on the show but I do think the Rolls piece was well done and he should get some credit for that even if he's an enormous poo poo of a person. Everything else he did on that show was hot garbage.

Only if you go full 80's wall street mode and have a mirror in the passenger seat with lines of coke already busted out and your 24 karat gold monogrammed snorting tube prepped and ready to rail a line at the next stoplight.
