It doesn't really matter what she did before anyway, it's an observation of what she does now. The quieter bits of the Venice challenge was kind of loose and chatty, so she came across much more relaxed and natural. Eddie Jordan is also very stilted. Doing this stuff is basically acting and people that do well in showbiz have a talent for it, doesn't matter how much you know about cars.

Rory, Matt, and not-the-bad-Chris seem like they could gel and become a good trio. Rory is natural both on camera and in studio and gives a decent interview. Chris tends to get a little bit mad-eyed and drooly over his supercars, but at least he's interesting, passionate, knowledgeable, and skilled. Matt seems to be way more comfortable in front of a camera than in front of an audience but his improv/asides in the films are pretty great. I feel like he plays "Matt LeBlanc" on set and he kind of forgets to keep that up on the longer films, which is why he's more enjoyable there. I love everything about Sabine except when she has to talk to the camera or to other people when she isn't driving. Maybe she should do a segment where she interviews minor celebrities, except the interviews can only take ten minutes because they're held while she's driving them around the Nurburgring? Or, as others have said, keep her in reserve for when they need another tame racing driver. I don't understand what is a Eddie Jordan or why they point cameras at him, and I would like them to stop that, please. Format-wise, bring back the news, scale down the star interviews and take out the stupid 'read what the other one is doing' part. I actually kind of like the first car/best car segment but it shouldn't be a competition. Heck, just make it a first car/best car story and it's probably fixed. I can take or leave Star in a Rally-Cross Car. It's kind of fun to see them do the jump and splash, but on the other hand track dynamics have way more of an effect on the lap than they used to. The "reasonable" part was creeping out of relevancy by the end of old new TG -- maybe have them genuinely try to find the best car for X money, where X is (lowest priced car on sale in UK) * 1.5? It could be a decent segment. Upon further googling, it looks like it'd be a stripped Dacia Sandero. This would be good news. I guess after all the new version still hasn't figured out what they are yet. If they can figure out their "Ambitious but Rubbish" they'll probably be genuinely good. It took way longer than six episodes for TGUS to figure out their chemistry, after all. Oh, yeah.

I love rally/cross stuff but the rallycross track is just bad. I think the way the handle celebrity interviews in Extra Gear isn't too bad, getting their opinions on news items can be good. Either way they should just stick to one celebrity, or two if they're doing the same thing.

I'd expect the star segment to be revamped next season, they're just unlucky that they filmed all the episodes in a block instead of once a week so they couldn't really do anything when it was bad. To be fair, old Top Gear had some ideas that totally missed too - who else remembers the Top Gear Stuntman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhZXDM87izE Funny the first time, but by week four... blunt fucked around with this message at 19:02 on Jul 5, 2016 |

More broadly, he just comes across as a huge douchebag, everywhere, all the time. He has no sense of humor and is a black hole of anti-charisma with no discernible talent.
