First off, I don't think we were going to have to use Rubles for anything. Second, it's our, not are.

So, what, because something didn't go the way you wanted it to you should shut up and stop complaining about it? Like- when a political party gets voted in, should all the other parties go 'yes well done fair enough we'll be quiet for the next five years'? Also I find it hard to believe you're so far divorced from reality that you'd accuse Osborne of cutting and running when pretty much every leader of the Leave campaign has set a fire and walked off. They're the dog that's caught the car it was chasing.

Also your probation was, I'm guessing, because you signed your post and closed it off with an image macro. Or maybe it was saying that israel and the illuminati were behind 9/11. Well first off i just like to say that i am touched that you took the time to scan through my previous posts under this account. Seems that i have touched you in some form are another . No one has cut and run Boris is on the back burner once the dust settles he will challenge again for leader in a year are two. As for Nigel F well what more is there he can do he achivived his goal. The establishment wont touch him, he is a wild card maverick . Not to mention the constant death threats and the hate he gets for expressing an opinion and the hate aimed towards his family as well . As for osbourne i never said he cut and run , turn your nerd rage down a touch breath in breath out , I said i cant belive he has shown his face again he should have walked away . Ohh made that Youtube clip for my better half she loved the fact i made a animation about her and thats all that matters :) Maybe share some of yor creations out side of forum nerd rage ?

Ohh yes and the BBC and hate crime . More left wing propaganda lets see how many prosecutions/ convictions take place my guess is a big fat 0 as at least 90% are lies . Lets torch are shop and get a nice insurance claim in and blame it on breexit. Are you want rehoused just make up a story about some one spray painting a bad word on your door. That poo poo has been going on for years its called playing the race card.
BBC decided to make front page news that one of there employees was allegedly racially abused walking down the street in london . One its a allegation and its sure as hell not front page news that a no body at the BBC gets sworn at walking down the street allegedly. Also have to love how most of that hate crime allegations are coming out of London . Which happens to be one of the most diverse places on the planet and voted remain. And yet in places far less diverse that where in favour of breexit there is almost no reports and no prosecutions are arrests .

But hell the BBC showed with Cliff Richard your guilty until proven innocent if it suits there agenda. BBC is given air time to nut jobs who want attention and no facts no arrests no prosecutions its all pure wind and propaganda thats created by left wing nut jobs. The BBC give up on facts a long time ago. They sooner demonise the british people rather than highlight the terrible human rights in places like Saudi and China and god dont ever mention the word female genital mutilation that takes place in this country every day , yep BBC has a news black out on that poo poo. lets front page a allegation that some one said that some one allegedly shouted nasty words at them . now that whats the people need to know about. BBC is finished it will be broken up in the next few years. Hatred is the new Buzz word for the left wing. Any view they dont like should be cast under the shadow of the word hatred, Dont let poo poo like facts get in the way

The Tartan Nazis (according to Jedit) are gaining support from the Jewish Community

Sir Nicholas Macpherson states it's a 'golden opportunity' for Scotland
---More in-depth Finacial Times article he wrote

quote:

Sir Nicholas urged the Scottish Government to abandon its plan for a currency union with the remainder of the UK and commit to creating a Scottish pound supported by its own central bank.

He acknowledged that Scotland would have to commit to joining the euro, but said "that does not mean Scotland would have to adopt the euro - at least not straight away", citing Sweden's "vanishingly remote" chances of joining the euro despite its 20-year long obligation to do so.

A Scottish currency would allow Scotland to manage its volatile oil price cycle, he said.

Preety much comfirms what everyone was thinking really about currency.

Rathlin campaign to join a independent EU-Scotland is a thing

quote:

IT IS the island whose disputed ownership between Scotland and Ireland ultimately came down to a test on whether a snake lived or died. But four centuries after its Irish fate was sealed and in Brexit's tailspin, residents of Rathlin are again looking east as the potential lifeline for their EU status, with some islanders pleading: “Take us with you Scotland.” In the past fortnight a campaign has been building on Rathlin, which lies just 12 miles west of Kintyre, for a re-establishment of its historic Scots connections. A future Scots referendum, they claim, would secure the European funding which has dragged Rathlin it into the 21st century with a modern harbour, connections to the National Grid and almost doubled its population in .

Described by those behind Rathlin Scotland as "only half-joking", the campaign has however distilled the feeling of flux and uncertainty felt by the island's 145 residents and the options being discussed about their post-Brexit future. A spokesman for the campaign said: "In the immediate aftermath of the referendum result, people on Rathlin talked, like people all over the UK, of little else. "And very quickly talk turned, only half jokingly, to new ways of thinking about the island’s relationship with its neighbouring islands. A unilateral declaration of independence worked for some, but others looked east and north to Rathlin’s historic friends in Scotland." Rathlin's connections with Scotland run deep. It lays the most credible claim as the location for where Robert The Bruce had his legendary encounter with the spider pre-Bannockburn, played a key role in the ancient kingdom of Dalriada and witnessed clan massacres of the Macdonalds by the Campbells decades before Glencoe.

The connections are also much more current. Novelist and film-maker Margot McCuaig's father was an islander who left seeking work in Scotland in the 1950s. Schooled and brought up in Glasgow, Margot now splits her time between the city and Rathlin. She said: "Brexit is thee talking point on the island and no-one appears supportive of the Referendum decision. They're wondering where this leaves them. A fortnight on, people who you bump into at the harbour, in the shop or the pub, the topic hasn't changed. "And now the younger people especially are beginning to question what their future is. Their situation has changed regarding freedom of movement and are upset that things might be different."

Michael Cecil, the Glasgow-born chairman of Rathlin's community association, points to a neat illustration of both Rathlin's place in the world and the geography underpinning the accelerating diplomatic relations between Dublin and Edinburgh. He said: "From Fair Head (in nearby County Antrim) the Scottish islands and mainland, Northern Ireland, the Irish Republic are all in view, with us in the middle. It's been a stepping stone." In the past, he said, when feeling neglected by the authorities in Belfast, Rathlin has looked with envy at how Scotland has managed its islands, from the ferry services to energy supplies and schooling. Meanwhile, a maritime festival has reestablished the seafaring links of old with Islay, Jura and Gigha to the north and Campbelltown to the east. Amongst the current options discussed is for the island to become a Jersey-like tax haven.

He said: "Rathlin folk talk jokingly about becoming independent and what the benefits of that could be. We've also told the civil servants in the past we'd consider moving our allegiances. In the last few years we've felt well looked after but if Brexit doesn't work out people will look with seriousness at our options." Renowned folk musicians the Black family, and most notably sisters Mary and Frances, are Rathlin's closest thing to royalty. Recently made a member of the Irish Senate, loosely based on the House of Lords, Frances Black has spoken of the "devastating" impact of Brexit, hailing the impact of the EU on Rathlin's revival. But from the inside she has witnessed a "definite energy" between Scotland and Ireland after last month's vote.

The acclaimed songstress said: "I've had a couple of conversations about this, mostly from within my own family and the thing which settles Rathlin's status for me is some kind of post-Brexit union of Ireland, north and south, with Scotland. Can you imagine that? Given all the other scenarios being talked about is it that hard?" The Rathlin Scotland spokesman added: "In 2007 during his first visit to Northern Ireland as First Minister, Alex Salmond noted the bonds that echoed down the years between these islands, and in response to Ian Paisley’s recognition that Rathlin had been ‘at times an island of Scotland, at times an island of Ulster and Ireland’, Salmond rejoined that he’d like to have Rathlin back again.

"Could the time for this have unexpectedly arrived in the febrile atmosphere of Brexit Britain? Stranger things have happened. One thing is sure; many on Rathlin have just one thing to say across the North Channel: take us with you Scotland."

A BRIEF HISTORY OF RATHLIN

RATHLIN'S close association with Scotland stretches back to the early medieval period and far beyond, and in particular to the kingdom of Dál Riata, which encompassed much of western Scotland, and north-eastern Ireland, with Rathlin's role pivotal. A stop-off point for the Celtic Christian monks sailing north to Iona, in 1306 it is said Robert the Bruce sought refuge upon Rathlin, owned by the Irish Bissett family, staying in Rathlin Castle. It was also scene of the power struggles of the MacDonnells of Antrim and witnessed massacre at the hands of Covenanter Campbell soldiers in 1642. A century before Sir Francis Drake was sent to confront Scottish refugees on the island, and in the ensuing massacre, hundreds of men, women and children of Clan MacDonnell were killed.

In 1617 a legal action for the ownership of Rathlin was taken by a Scotsman named Crawford of Lisnorris. Crawford’s case rested on the claim that Rathlin had been granted to his ancestor in 1500 by James IV. The dispute ultimately came down to the introduction of a snake to the island. With St Patrick’s banishment of snakes from Ireland, if the serpent were to survive, the island must belong to Scotland. The unfortunate animal did not last long, and Rathlin’s Irish status was sealed. Rathlin was also the location of the world's first commercial wireless telegraphy link, established by employees of Guglielmo Marconi between the island and Ballycastle on the Irish mainland.

More recently, Richard Branson crashed his hot air balloon into the sea off Rathlin Island in 1987 after his record-breaking cross-Atlantic flight from Maine. Branson later returned to the island and presented the Rathlin Island Trust with £25,000 towards the renovation of its landmark Manor House.

David Greig is a good lad. For some academic navel-gaving: the line "Scottish plays peformed in Prague" stuck out for being a bit out of place, since it's the only one in that part which isn't "narrator encounters euro-thing in Scotland" - I've a sneaking suspicion that's a nod to Clare Wallace, who literally wrote the book on David Greig and is based in Prague

And I say that as someone who mostly likes gimmicky postmodernism. Fever Dream: Southside and his Hamlet were brilliant though, so it's a small price to pay

I didn't see Lanark and felt like I missed out :(
I'm a bit wary of Greig taking over, but the coming season does look rather good to be fair. I need to get to the Lyceum more this year, especially after I missed Waiting for Godot last autumn (I did try to get tickets for the final night but it was sold out by then :()

I dance to the sweet tune of your failure so I'm never gonna stop fucking with you.

Continue to get confused and frustrated with me as I dance to your anger.

As I expect nothing more from ya you stupid runt!

German YouGov have posted up a poll of a majority of europeans thinking that Scotland would vote Indy and that they would be welcoming of Scotland joining the EU

Dugdale is still exploring the federalised option for the UK. I'll give her credit where it's due, she's holding her guns and is actually doing something reasonable. Course considering it's a Guardian piece there is also a small bit of why Corbyn needs to go by Dugdale.

An Independent candidate for Edinburgh (Jack Robert Mclean Caldwell) back in May asks a few questions

I honestly don't know much about him but I assume you Acaila would know a bit more about him considering he's in Edinburgh?

Haven't heard of him I'm afraid.

Not to make you feel worse, but Lanark was phenomenal. Not 100% sure if it would make a lick of sense if you haven't read the book, but it was a great piece of theatre, and the way it was structured - three distinct acts, two intervals and with the "realistic" act the most abstract in presentation - meant that it never sagged, which for a 3 1/2 - 4 hour play is unbelievably impressive.

The Citz has had a really great programme for the last few years, but this Autumn's is slightly unimaginative - and seems to have a slightly mis-timed "SCOTLAND!!!" theme. It's not bad or anything though: Glasgow Girls (which is great and all - and by David Greig! - but it's been on twice already in the last few years), Trainspotting (the play adaptation pre-dates the film, but unless it's a radically unusual production it seems a bit, I dunno, uninteresting for the Citizens), the Rivals (which I know very little about, but I'm an 18th century nerd so the prospect of Georgian sensibilities filtered through Dominic Hill is appealing) and Cheviot (which of course I'll go see again)

Trainspotting will probably be trying to capitalise on the buzz around the sequel coming out in January?
Cheviot is coming to the Lyceum as well - I got booked up a couple of weeks ago (might go twice though cos my seats are a bit poo poo for the date I'd planned).
I've never got around to reading the book shamefully, so I'll tell myself it wouldn't have made sense to avoid the guilt!
To be fair, I've still not seen Glasgow Girls - I think it's doing the Fringe too? I'm sure I put it on my list for that, very late to the party (I at least was earlier than most folk to Black Watch, so I'm not a total disaster!)

So what's Theresa May's opinion on Scotland, out of curiosity?

I'm hoping she just hasn't realised it exists and we can just sneak out quietly without her noticing

While I do understand the allure of a good wool shop (they are pretty hard to find these days) that challenge doesn't make much sense - she could just trawl second hand shops buying up knitted clothes. The judge should have set her a more specific challenge.
