That would be freaking impossible over here in socialist paradise, it's atleast 3 years in high school, and probably another 3 years in college after that If you want the possibility to move up.

There are certifications you need for operating a lot of equipment although im sure things like highway and poo poo maybe still require dumb grunt labor running in work convoys but honestly i doubt its a free for all its just rear end kicking real rear end hard labor with skin cancer and broken bones and workmans comp and making sure your pee will never be dirty from the joint you smoked over the weekend when you get hurt becomes a thing instead of being a waiver you sign to forfeit.

The rate of turnover is massive, but for somebody with zero prospects otherwise, I'd give it a shot.

Temping is awful, completely Awful god drat it I hated temping. The whole 'maybe you'll get hired' thing is a complete joke . Temping is just a way for company to hire people without benefits and treat them like poo poo. I will never do it again and honestly McDonalds is probably preferable considering you won't get surprise fired half way through a a day with no ride home if you even made it that long. Most jobs people do for exactly one day before realizing modern temping is just a way for businesses to get benefit less laborer's that they can treat like absolute poo poo. One of my blue collar assignments was in a bottling plant and yeah I would not have been surprised at all if a guy got crushed by something in there. Training consisted of "make sure to wear your gloves and hairnet and do what the others are doing"

if you dont go into temping expecting a career, and know what it is - hourly work for hourly pay - then it's fine i'd say stay in school to get a better job but common core is designed to teach common people how to do common things so i guess there's absolutely no way to better yourself welfare is the only answer

I just think construction has slightly better prospects because there's always people who need to be replaced, as opposed to a company hiring a temp who's willing to crawl underneath a palletizer that hasn't been locked out because all the actual workers know better.

As we raise living standards across the globe by encouraging illegal immigration, exporting jobs, and engaging in unfair trade practices (that benefit international corporations alone), Western living standards will fall. Every corner of the globe is being usurped into this corporate plantation like structure. African-Americans were upwardly mobile right along white Americans until all the manufacturing jobs were shipped overseas. They should be seen as a the canary in the coal mine for things to come.

I've been doing temp work since graduating college a few years ago and the contracts I got were barely just above minimum wage, went months between contracts, and regulated to warehouse work because the women who run the staffing agency apparently saw that I was a man and my employment in a distro center I did five years ago and overlooked my college degree, my years of call center work, my experience with computers and office equipment, 50-60 wpm typing and ten-key, my back injury from being caught between two dumpsters, the car accident I was in little over two years ago, and my desire for clerical or support work instead of warehouse. And then they got pissed off at me when I went to another temp agency and took a clerical position the other agency offered over the warehouse job they lined up for me. Edit: Goddamn, I didn't really want to sound like a MRA ranting, but I kinda felt that there was some sort of sex discrimination going on with the temp agency, but really couldn't prove it.
