"Katana Fleet" Dreadnought with Thrawn admiral card perhaps.

That would be awesome. Mix and match it so the ship can be rebel and imperial

Thrawn just has a regular ISD in the trailer, fairly certain they're taking the best and most useful parts of the character and dumping the rest of the silly EU stuff. Certainly no sign of a Dreadnought, and the series 2 trailer spoiled all the pretty new ships early - this trailer shows off a new YT-2400 f.ex

I'm still holding on for the Dreadnought. It's by far my favorite ship and I'd hate for it to never come out for Armada, even if it isn't in Rebels. And it's a way to get Thrawn on the table without releasing just another ISD.

Well yeah, they use plenty of EU Legends stuff in X-Wing, I'm just saying I really don't expect to see one turned canon in the TV show

True, although to be fair, he doesn't start with the Katana fleet if they want to bring that back in. But they've also come up with plenty of other clone wars era ships that kind of fill the same role as the Dreadnought, so I don't think they'd turn it canon, given how strongly they are sticking with wedges and TIEs.

A Rebels series themed fleet would be pretty cool. And yeah, they've got a pretty respectable fleet going in that show. Some CR90s, some old "stolen" Alderanean Transports/"cruisers", a stolen Quasar Fire carrier, and buckets of red-shirt A-wings.

When I was 18 I worked as a canyon/climbing guide and made the princely sum of $250/week. I spent nearly 100% of the money that summer on gear because I got it at a discount.

I'm pretty sure I'd be in a similar situation if I was a grownup working for FFG

I re-read the books recently. He literally just had a droid permanently sweeping the floor and watering the plants in a hallway in Republic HQ where by sheer coincidence all the people who normally treat droids like people and regularly use them for espionage somehow all became morons and discussed all plot-relevant plans in said hallway in front of said droid.

And not a single person noticed the droid phoning Thrawn with the deets either... :smithicide:

Its better than vanilla protege / savant / tactical genius. The reason he's so good is mental not physical or mystical, and the reason his mind game is on point is he studies people through their art and culture. I think Thrawn resonates with people because he wins through skill not power, and his skill isn't the standard mary sue type of thing.

90% sure than if he was intended at all NOT to be a boring mary-sue then the smartest thing about the art analysis is that it was a cover for some mundane spy work.

The difference in the Star Wars universe is that a "recording device" is deployed via FTL canon and has way more legs and claws than a flying ball really needs.

I was listening to the first Thrawn book while painting a few weeks ago and I recall the first battle where the author displayed his prowess. It was something about knowing the commander would/wouldn't pursue or engage because it was a certain alien species (wiki says Obra-Skai?) whose psychology, studied through art, would mean it would act in that manner. It's (cultural) racist philosophy made into nerd fetish bait. I got to the part where he unknowingly finds Joruuuus Cbath on the cloning planet before looking up another asimov audiobook to listen to instead.

It's the random ship that takes off in the background of the special editions of Episode IV. There's also one in the comic adaptation of TFA for some reason.

Had a good game helping to teach a new player to do a 400 point game. He picked things up quickly and I made a lot of dumb maneuvering mistakes involving my CR90 and Nebulon B flying too close to the ISD IIs front arc. I lost the smaller cap ships but managed to take down his Victory and Raider. The fighters and bombers eventually chewed through his TIE swarms to get the win on points when all was said and done. Both his ISD and my Mon Cal cruiser survived to the end.

Echo base Evacuation Fleet

Author: Yiddish Sushi

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 398/400

Commander: General Rieekan

Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Intel Sweep

MC80 Command Cruiser (106 points)
- Independence ( 8 points)
- Wing Commander ( 6 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
= 131 total ship cost

[ flagship ] CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- General Rieekan ( 30 points)
- Tantive IV ( 3 points)
- Engineering Team ( 5 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 89 total ship cost

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)
- Yavaris ( 5 points)
- Adar Tallon ( 10 points)
= 72 total ship cost

1 X-Wing Squadron ( 13 points)
1 B-Wing Squadron ( 14 points)
1 Keyan Farlander ( 20 points)
1 "Dutch" Vander ( 16 points)
1 Wedge Antilles ( 19 points)
1 Dash Rendar ( 24 points)

Next time I'd probably try something different with the nebulon b since the Independance was already doing heavy duty running squadrons. Maybe try to swap in a CR30 or add another Corvette+fighters.

Hopefully I'm doing this right, if I get 2 hits and 2 crits and he has 2 shield to block, it would cancel out the hits? And you can only resolve one crit per attack so it comes out to one facedown and one faceup card?

Whelp, the Mon Karren fleet ended up winning the fleet commander contest. Though I have to say I have no idea why the guy playing my fleet ended up selecting Intel Sweep as an objective, as I would've gone for Fire Lanes, but c'est la vie. I still get a free Interdictor and Gozanti.

E: After rereading the objective, I am so used to playing second that I did not remember who sets it up. I do think clustering the Intel Sweep tokens was a mistake though, the ones he deployed should've been as far away as possible, to either force a split or guarantee two tokens.
