Do you think they asked Spooky for permission to free people? I know that sounds silly, but it's so synonymous with him. Or did Spooky work on Evo?

I dunno if he did it this year but he's stream a bunch of Evo's in the past so it wouldn't surprise me

The combined EVO and Topanga twitch streams for SFV topped out at over 200k tonight. Then add ESPN numbers to that for overall viewers I guess.

Can't argue that at all. Tekken Master pushed SonicFox to the limit like I've never seen anyone do before, and honestly the whole top 8 was hype as gently caress.

I still think MKX gets a bad rep from people for whatever reason, it's a dumb game but it's not that dumb of a game. Also it's the one with a hegemonic force we all hope loses every tournament and poo poo,

I think it was Evo 2013? where during SF4 finals Infiltration started doing all sorts of weird counterpicks instead of sticking to one character like everyone else. At one point he went with Hakan (which no one played) and people lost their minds.

Yeah honestly the stream on ESPN was rear end and made me realize we don't need video games on tv and there's no reason for it. gently caress those borders and the sound quality was rear end too. It just seems like desperate moves from ESPN to save their network since its been failing for a minute.

In Memory of Eileen Ciaramelli

To this day, is LI Joe’s favorite Street Fighter game because of the parry system and the layers of gameplay that force players to “be inside the opponent’s head.” The time and financial investment paid off as LI Joe had some success playing Third Strike and he was given an opportunity to accomplish a lifelong goal, going to Japan.
“My entire life, the only thing I ever wanted to do was go to Japan. When I was a little kid, my dad said, ‘Yeah, okay son. You’ll go to Japan.’ The bastard told me that one day,” LI Joe said, laughing at the thought.

In 2008, LI Joe booked a trip to Japan to compete in Super Battle Opera (SBO), the premier Japanese fighting game tournament at the time. But his biggest challenge wasn’t an opponent in Street Fighter at the time. It was leaving behind his mother, Eileen, who was fighting an even bigger battle against cancer.

“I had plans. I bought my plane ticket. My mom was on hospice,” he said. “I remember sitting on my mom’s bed and said, ‘Mom, if you don’t want me to go, I won’t go. I will cancel my ticket right now.’”
Eileen was the type of mom who cared but had a tough way of showing it. Like any parent, she probably wanted the best for her son and wanted him to go on and do great things. Playing video games like it was a second job or flying overseas to fighting game tournaments typically wasn’t something a parent expected their children to do.

“There is no way I’m stopping you from going to Japan. You better go to Japan,” Eileen told Joe.

“I remember kissing her and saying thank you. I went to Japan and had the greatest time ever,” LI Joe said.

LI Joe stayed in touch while he was in Japan. His dad promised him mom would be okay while he was gone.

He got a chance to play Third Strike in the prestigious SBO tournament. He also tried Street Fighter IV for the first time as it had just been released in arcades in Japan. Like Third Strike, it took a little time for LI Joe to warm up to the game, but being surrounded by the best Street Fighter players helped and eventually, he was a sponge, soaking up as much knowledge as he could.
Three days after LI Joe returned home, Eileen Ciaramelli passed away.

“My dad said she wasn’t going to do anything until I was home,” LI Joe said.

The whole thing is worth reading.
