I liked Thomas Was Alone a lot, but I already bought it on PC and Playstation (crossbuy, best idea). How are the other indie games on sale? I heard a lot of good things about OlliOlli when it was a Vita exclusive (for like a month), and I think I heard The Swapper is a really good puzzle game? Lone Survivor is supposed to be a Silent Hill 2D? I only remember bits and words from years ago on the Steam thread.

The Swapper is good. It tells a poignant little sci-fi story, and there are some interesting puzzles along the way. Lone Survivor is aesthetically pleasing, but it's a bit of a slog, and the story isn't all that great. A Silent Hill game, basically.

Apparently, The Swapper.

Etrian Odyssey 4 when it's on sale.

BOXBOY, Picross-e, and the Pushmo series of games if you like puzzles. All of these are very different.

But really, Pocket Jockey. Don't stop, just buy it. Better than crack.

I'll second the recommendation of The Swapper. It's a cool premise with some great puzzles.

I used to have the cart, but it was burgled when I lived in a lovely apartment. :(
I'll probably re-buy it someday. I love that game, I've already bought it so many times over. I do have the ios and wii versions.

Hell, I got a DS as soon as I heard that game was available. Haha.

If you plan to invest in a Vita, and they are good little systems, I like mine slightly better then my 3DS right now due to how the 3DS makes my hands cramp after like 10 minutes, make sure you are aware of the price of the memory cards.

that's actually a good price too...

Some other budget titles that are fun:

Legend of the Dark Witch 1 & 2 (2 is MUCH better then 1, and 1 is basically a budget Mega Man) They are much better then Mighty No. 9.
Ninja Battle Heroes
Gunman Clive 1 & 2
Any of the Shantae games.
Mighty Switch Force 1 & 2
Binding of Isaac Rebirth
Shovel Knight
The Guild Series (Liberation Maiden, Weapon Shop de Omasse, and Crimson Shroud are the ones I had a lot of fun with.)

I have a quick and possibly stupid question about the Shantae games:

I know that Half-Genie Hero is coming soon, but are they working on a proper 3DS port of Risky's Revenge? The DSI version of the game is still available and you can purchase and play it on the 3DS, but I have this vague memory of reading in this very thread that they are going to make a full port of it to the most modern hardware. This sounds rather mad to me and I assume that I am in error, but I wanted to check.

In any event, the original Shantae is on 3DS VC, which is grand since the only other options are emulation or hunting up an incredibly rare cartridge copy for $400+

Fair enough; at least it's not just something that I made up in my head. I hardly see the reason for a port provided that the DSiWare version is still available for 3DS users.
