Alright, who decided the default Fencer controls should be left hand gun fired by right mouse button and right hand gun fired by left mouse button? Because that person is a monster (Change this in the fencer specific controls!). And if anyone else spent a match going "how do I fire the depth crawlers gatling gun" the answer is apparently left shift, the most logical shooting button.

This game must be a nightmare on a gamepad, it requires tons of extremely rapid precision aiming. For some of the vehicles I can see it, but that's such a small part of the game.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to use a gamepad for this when m+kb is an option. The mouse and keyboard controls actually work quite well once you are in game, and it definitely helps with rapid precision aim. The menu controls are kind of bad, but it is tolerable. I agree that the fencer's left and right being swapped is silly though.

Sure, I have no doubt controllers work fine, but why handicap yourself? Precision can be handy, and weapons that level city blocks aren't always the most party friendly.

I've found the menu controls really good, because they are extremely consistent - WASD moves, left click confirms, right click backs out. I've seen way worse from bad ports (not that EDF is a bad port).

I didn't really matter in the PS2 days whether you were levelling the Big Ben tower on the Houses of Parliament as long as the bugs were flying. BTW, I call bullshit on the "giant insects cant fly" plot. They did fly the games covering the first invasion.

I just assume that everyone thought that the war was over for good, so the position for military bug expert would go to whomever you want to sideline and keep away from any actual important work. Fully aware of that, the guy in that position reads up on it as the invasion unfolds as his job, prior to the events of the game, was just 'showing up to work' and 'not get caught watching porn on the job'. This is of course just me trying to compensate for a terrible story. But than, this game would still be awesome if the narrator would just randomly sprout ww1-era propaganda with no connection to what's happening on-screen.

I'd already gathered four boxes, and there were only three hectors left to take out. So I just hung back, lined up a shot with my heavy mortar, and at the very last moment some loving rookie jumps right in front of me and the explosion both killed us instantly.

4.1 takes place after one space war, presumably EDF 3 / 2017. since 3 is kind of a remake of 1, 4 is probably kind of a remake of 2, although they are pretty different. If you really need the games to connect your best chance is to pretend that 2 and IA are different fronts of the first war. This doesn't really work with things said on the radio, but you can pretend.

^^^^^^ You'd also have to ignore the opening plot crawl in EDF2. It's best to just imagine there are two evil alien races with lots of giant bugs (The Invaders & The Ravagers) with designs on Earth. At some point they flipped a coin over who would invade and EDF1&2/EDF3&4 are a sort of Sliding Doors type situation based on the outcome. dis astranagant posted:The only EDF cannon I need is the one I'm pointing at the bugs. The original implication was that Rangers (well, Storm 1) took down the initial mothership, and then after the war they developed the jetpacks and fencer's reflector shields. If you want to smash the canon all together, you can declare they built the jetpacks during the first war somewhere and then Rangers and Pale Wings took it down. I still haven't found tons of time to play it but the vita version of EDF 2 seems like the radio figures out early on that they are ordering around Storm 1 and that Storm 1 can do anything, so that's fun.

Look man, when every giant bio-anomaly has been GIANT IN-SECTS and you're hired specifically for your specialization in Ravagers AND you managed to gently caress up on saying "Thank goodness there are no FLYING IN-SECTS!" you're going to call dragons some evolved GIANT IN-SECT just in case. But he has no excuse for Erginus. That's clearly a godzilla.

If you ask Ohara, almost all the biological enemies in the game are the exact same species in different stages of "evolution" (he probably means metamorphosis or something the way he talks about it). If you strung together all his lines about such and such "must be the evolved version of..." it would go something like black ant -> queen ant -> flying bug -> death queen -> dragon -> Erginus while all somehow being the same creature. Also Erginus wishes it was Godzilla. Human military forces can't do poo poo against Godzilla, unless they have an oxygen destroyer, maybe.

Insert name here posted:Probably make the helicopters easier to fly, especially with KB/M and turning the drat things. Actually I'd like to mess with turret turns on the ground vehicles too since they're kinda sluggish to handle but at least those I can deal with. I'd love it if the controls for the crawler were relative to the screen and not static with the orientation of the vehicle. It's already screwing with you by how much the view changes just going horizontal to vertical and then you crawl up the side of a tunnel at an angle and you have to press down and to the right to move the turret up.
