I'm quite a bit late to this conversation, but why do people think Trump has a 'good' shot at Pennsylvania? It's a total Republican fantasy. When analyzing past elections, I think people are focusing too much on the percentages and not enough on the actual vote totals and then thinking the race is closer than it actually is: Election | GOP - Dem 2012 | 2,680,434 - 2,990,274 2008 | 2,655,885 - 3,276,363 2004 | 2,793,847 - 2,938,095 Romney improved by nearly 3% over McCain in 2012, but he only gained ~25,000 votes. There just aren't enough potential R voters to make Pennsylvania go red in anything but a landslide.

Because Pennsylvania's kind of in the rust belt and if white turnout is super high and if uneducated whites break for Trump in a big way it might possibly happen, and the polls have been closer than in 2008 or 2012. Trump still needs to run the table in all the big swing states, a shock win in PA is not enough. I agree that PA is not going to be the critical state that flips the EC one way or the other. It's gonna be Florida or Ohio.
