It's growing on me for sure, it was an unexpected sound for her lead single though. I think it paid off.

You know who also has a new single out? Nelly Furtado! It's called Behind Your Back and is actually pretty good! I don't think there is any kind of official upload on YouTube, so have this instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_-Ux8zyV6M

I think Katy Perry is sort of filling the wild girl slot for people who Lady Gaga is a little to weird for. Sort of like Kesha I guess?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8G4oaOxyxk This version of Wild is kinda cool I guess, but it sounds a little sped up? For some reason it sounds incredibly fast compared to the album version in my opinion.

So Britney's new album Glory just leaked. And it's actually really, really good. The weakest songs are the ones that have already been officially released, of course. Slumber Party has the potential to be a massive hit, and she is singing her heart out on What You Need. Britney's back!

I was listening to the radio the other day, and I thought to myself, "You know what pop music needs right about now? A vaguely creepy sex song from an almost 70-year-old Barry Gibb." It's like he read my mind.

Happy birthday to me! (i mean, it would be if some dumbass in the music industry didn't decide that Friday was a better release day than Tuesday but whatever) St. Dogbert posted:I was listening to the radio the other day, and I thought to myself, "You know what pop music needs right about now? I wish he had the idea to just give the song to someone else, because I really like the instrumental and the words, but his voice is not the same as it was 40 years ago, obviously.

Does anybody remember Eliza Doolittle? I got her first album recently when I needed a third CD for a "three for £10" deal in the local record shop and it's pretty good; I only knew "Pack Up" from when it came out and was getting played a lot on the radio. I see from Wikipedia that she did a second album about three years ago, but other than that she seems to have gone the way of a lot of the solo female artists who were trying to be the next Amy Winehouse. When was the last time you heard anything about Duffy or Kate Nash, for instance? It seems like Adele is the only one of them who managed to have significant staying power. Maybe Lily Allen. I liked her first album a lot but haven't really heard much from her second or third because I've heard she changed her style to be more conventional than the "21st century Ian Dury" style she had on her first one.

Lily Allen's second and third albums are still pretty good, but definitely less interesting. Duffy and Kate Nash, on the other hand as far as I can tell from both my memory and wikipedia, they were basically one hit wonder situations. I really like Mercy and Foundations, but neither of them seemed to have produced much else of note. If we're talking about female solo artists who boomed and then vanished in the mid noughties, though, how about Katie Melua and Gabriella Cilmi? edit: That said, I do like Warwick Avenue from Duffy. Yeah, if I were really trying to min-max my pop music intake I'd probably cut down to the best 12-14 songs from Emotion (basically tossing Didn't Just Come Here to Dance, Fever, and Never Get to Hold You in and tossing LA Hallucinations out), but pretty much everything is so good it's not worth it. Except Store. That song blows (but it's still hella catchy).
