Does anyone know how the photo pass for gold annual pass holders work? I might not be able to make a trip next month with the rest of my family. They have silver passes, but they are under me in the website to manage them. Will I be able to grab their photo ops or does my magic band need to be scanned for that, maybe I can just give them my card so they scan it if that's the case?

While that would suck, I can't imagine the outrage against it would be that huge outside of nerds like us. I image most people see it as a relic from an older time, dated by the last time they wanted to update it for the current day. And even those who could look past it, are then faced with an attractions that is proclaiming how great fossil fuels are, despite the common consensus that our reliance on it is currently going to kill us off in some number of generations. So, I imagine a lot of people you would ask would practically beg for someone to replace it with another test track style attraction. But Epcot has mostly been separate from Disney IP. Except for Frozen, the Three Caballeros, the Nemo ride, the Lion King feature, and the plethora of costumed characters that show up around the park. And even those it indulges in have always had an easy connect through line between their content and their educational/cultural value. Guardians has Space, and a not particularly educational or scientifically accurate view of it. It goes as far as, there's no air in space, and that's it. Maybe Groot as a tree monster could educate kids on photosynthesis, but that's it. But, if they could prove me wrong and wring a plethora of educational content out of GotG, their place in the park would be better suited for Spaceship Earth than Universe of Energy. Also, don't put GotG into Spaceship Earth. Of course, the solution is to retool it once again, find a way to attach education it to the dinosaur diorama without saying 'They turned to oil and now we can drive cars. Thanks for dying you terrifying death machines!', probably refurbish and similarly retool the dinosaur diorama to become a new kind of impressive, and surround it all with some surprisingly entertaining and gorgeously shot videos.

If you're managing them their photos will appear and you can download them. The AP with photopass doesn't need to be there. If they have their own accounts, you'd have to be linked to them but as far as photopass is concerned as long as we get the photos into your account somehow you can download them and they'll be there for a year.

If you're traveling to Disney soon, might want to check out Southwest because they're running a quick sale due to their snafu this week. I have flights booked for Nov already and I checked and my return flight is now $79. I got a refund of $76. Southwest has no change fees so this was pretty awesome.

Finally have a hotel booked for my Disneyland trip. We are staying right behind DCA in The Annabelle. It looks tremendously pretty from the photos, and it's a short walk into Downtown Disney/Esplanade.

The resort just spent $1bn to align the park with the California theme. Putting in a space warehouse goes against that. I like both the Florida and California versions. They both have their ups... And downs

The rest is basically the same. And it sounds like they're going to be addressing some of this along with the re-themeing, so we might get a better ride experience, too? I doubt this will be open for my next visit, but a guy can dream. I'll miss Rod Sirling, and one of my best DCA memories involved one of the creepy bellhops.

They used footage of Serling from one of the episodes and matched up the dialogue to the first part of what he says, then cut away as the real Serling is about to say "a map of the United States" to focus on the freight elevator. As far as I know, the original is in no danger of being taken out any time soon. It's been made the icon of Hollywood Studios now that the Earful Tower has been removed (a much better decision than the previous one, seeing as how the water tower was practically invisible if you weren't on the backlot tour) and they're opening or have already opened a themed bar at the ride. It's also one of the most popular attractions in the park's history in a time when the massive construction has left the park bereft, so it would incredibly stupid to close it. Super awkwardly for a minute until they slid shut again. It was the best part of DCA pre-Carsland, be interesting how it'll work as a random sci-fi comic book theme sitting between Hollywood Blvd and Bugsland.

Yeah, after watching a youtube recording of the ride, it's got nothing on Orlando. It really is a cheapened out version of the better ride, at best you can say is that it better holds on to the conceit that it is an episode of the Twilight Zone, only referencing the opening directly in the pre-show and staying within the 'episode' for the duration of the ride. Versus Orlando's constant referencing of opening from moment one to the very end. But it's a compromised version of a brilliant ride, and I can imagine that the current regime of executives just looks at it as an embarrassing, second rate relic from the bad years. And it looks impossible to convert the ride into that better, original version of the ride, short of tearing it down and rebuilding it. So, it makes sense to try and convert it into something original to the park that works well with the ride experience. Plus, based on the concept art, it appears to be a lot of stuff being tacked onto the base ride. So I've hear it theorized that it's more akin to a heavy duty conversion similar to Haunted Mansion Holiday, or Hyperspace Mountain and Ghost Galaxy. It's there for as long as it's popular/promoting the Guardians brand, and once that's over they just need to give it a fresh coat of paint and it's back to the original Tower. That said, I still wish they weren't messing with the thing. It's thematically perfect as a piece of the skyline, working not only as a part of Hollywoodland, but as something you can see far off in the distance of Buena Vista Street, and even as a giant towering structure that A Bugs Land resides in the garden of. Take away the Hollywood tower, and that cohesion is gone. It wouldn't be the first time in Disney Park's history, to be if you look across the gates, a castle doesn't have much of a place in the Frontier. I just wish that they could've kept the conversion while keeping the facade, or at least not changing it so drastically. And I will add that one of my favorite memories was the creepy bellhops. I didn't even ride the thing, but one of them came out with one of those luggage carriers filled with old trunks and such. On top were a series of front desk bells, and using them he played a perfect rendition of the Twilight Zone theme.

I'm okay with that change. Florida had the best ToT anyway, the CA copy was a lower budget me-too ride that (partially because it was so low budget) looked like poo poo that could see be seen for many blocks. Turning it into a sci-fi villain fortress is acceptable if it has the same kind of detail that Cars Land and the new entrance has, rather than being a relic of the Eisner 'Florida first' years.

Well frickin duh. J.P. Mordo, Head of Money Making, is of course looking to fleece people's money. If they could get away with it they'd be doing this to every ride. Just overnight the entirety of Disneyland would be Star Wars Galaxy complete with Princess It definitely wouldn't fly in Orlando where the original is a stone cold classic. But in the context of rich assholes who fly out to the other coast every other weekend, the guys who have to deal with the Californian version these days must be dealing with an inferiority complex. And after Hyperspace Mountain, they're probably trying to over compensate.
