All you need is CheatEngine. Wouldn't recommend other ways of injecting .dll.

Ok, here's what you do. I've uploaded the .dll which will allow you to execute lua calls and scripts in the game after it is injected by CheatEngine or some other injector. Also some scripts.

The download

1. Download. Place the .dll where ever you want. Put the 's' folder in the Vermintide binaries folder at its install location. Like so. This is how it will find scripts.
2. Start Vermintide in Window or Borderless Fullscreen mode. Get to the inn and don't open any menus.
3. Open CheatEngine. Use the button on the top left with the colored square to hook into the vermintide.exe process.
4. Click 'Memory View' under the address window. Hit CTRL-I and find the vermintide_new.dll, inject it.
5. Screen may blink. .dll will inject. In-game, press INSERT and you will see the console window in-game.

Now you can run scripts. To give yourself all the hats and helms in the game, type in the window (and be mindful because the input is laggy and case sensitive) execute s\hats.lua . This will run a script that gives you all hats in the game. Open your inventory a few times and you'll eventually see them. Look in the s folder provided to see some more. For example, I used 'glaives' and 'vbow' to spawn all instances of the orange DLC weapons to see what their perks were. execute s\tokens.lua will give you 500k of all the forge materials. execute s\trinkets.lua will of course give you every single trinket in the game.

There are other fun scripts in there, one of which will attach sack rat lootbags to all the clan rats, make all enemies move at 0.1 speed or move so fast it's basically teleporting, which of course applies to specials like the Packmaster who will never slow down as he yanks you around, and spawning torches all around the dark area of the Dungeon DLC map so you won't be blind :v:

Be forewarned that too many items being spawned in a level as a result of lootrats or whatever has a small chance of causing the game to crash

Pretty sure it was. I made it a point to castigate the developers on the board for it back in the day and I've never seen it since in 25+ games on the map.

"No, two ogres is definitely intended behavior" they said. I called bullshit because the Ogre at the end of S&D spawned right on top of players and was obviously buggy behavior. No other map before the Drachenfels DLC can spawn two ogres either, and in the DLC, it's intentionally scripted to do so at certain points.

Owl Inspector
Sep 14, 2011

Between levels 0-90 I think I saw three games total where roger didn't show up at the end, my guess would be an 80% chance or so. Since I started playing again last month, I've played the level 5 times and didn't see him once.

It's way better without him. without roger at the end, supply and demand is still the hardest level with the full set of tomes and grimoires, but the ending is really fun and strategic. With roger it is dumb as poo poo. no other pre-DLC level gives you 2 rogers almost every time, let alone the second being close to guaranteed after both the grimoires in an area where you have extremely little ability to coordinate and will get surrounded no matter what. Unfortunately this all applies to the dungeons too, which doesn't even give you tomes to compensate for its bullshit. It is a cool level but the fact that you can get 2 rogers in the darkness is dumb as hell and I will never not use the ladder to dupe torches.

You've done god's work if you pushed them to get rid of him on S&D

Fatshark finally rears its head over a month later. Let' see where this goes.

quote:

An Open Letter from the Shark Tank
Heroes,

There is no doubt that there has been some concern over where we’ve been (and where the updates are). We’ve had a number of unfortunate delays lately, and a lot of us have been away for holidays.

The good news is that we’re still alive and we’re still working on delivering updates to Vermintide! Including the Summer Solstice event, Quests & Contracts update and the ever important stability and bug fixes.

I’d like to take this opportunity to add voice from our side to hopefully address some of your concerns or at least share with you where we are, why we’re here, and where we’re going.

As we often see, game development never quite goes the way you think it will. (Did you know that Grand Theft Auto was originally a car crashing and racing game titled Race’n’Chase?)

We had a great plan for the summer which unfortunately didn’t stand the test of reality. We missed a number of deadlines, causing something of a snowball effect that ended up impacting our plan as a whole. Fixes that should have gone live long ago are still waiting to go and we’re sorry they have been left unaddressed for so long. Key members of our team became needed in more place than one and long evenings and weekends have been spent trying to catch up on missed deadlines. In other words, not an ideal situation.

We’ve held several meetings over the last few weeks to discuss what went wrong to make sure we can learn from our mistakes and avoid them in the future. Vermintide is our largest project ever in terms of scale and team size and we’re definitely still learning to both handle it, and do it justice.

Back in May, we had plans to release the free Quests & Contracts DLC along-side the Drachenfels DLC.

Since the release of Vermintide we’ve been hard at work on lots of new backend functionality that introduces some neat new possibilities and speeds up development. Both the Quest System and Summer Event utilize this “new backend” and are, as such, dependant on it being released alongside or before them.

We met with problems in rolling the new backend out in time and had to delay Quests to a date which we felt we could be confident the new backend would be ready for public consumption. Having Quests come out with Drachenfels would have been be a great marriage of releases as there would be cool new ways to interact with the new levels, as well as adding more rich rewards to players playing old levels as well. Alas, it was not to be.

Because the Drachenfels DLC did not require the new backend for release, we went and released it as per schedule. Around this time we reviewed the status of the Quests & Contracts DLC again.

The new backend worked in the traditional sense but had this one truly boggling bug that really did not make much sense. It wasn’t game breaking by the QA definition of the word, but you’d really have not appreciated it at all. Not understanding the cause was also a red flag warning us that other issues may be caused by that one.

With Drachenfels now live and experiencing some stability issues (some the result of exploits, some just fairly atypical problems), as well as some new bugs (and sure, some old!), we had already begun work on a juicy patch to remedy these. The plan was for this patch to now coincide with the release of the new backend and also introduce the Summer Solstice event.
In other words, the patch we built relied on the new backend going live alongside it.
Hands up - this was another mistake on our part, because once again we missed the deadline for the new backend.

We truly expected to have released a patch and have the work for the Summer Solstice event complete in time for midsummer where we’d planned to toy with a new type of event for Vermintide. We hinted it on our livestream back on June 16th and had planned on having it live (along with Quests) in time for the Steam Summer Sale. Alas, the issue prevailed and evolved, and we had simply no choice but... to delay.

There’s that word again - delay. Perhaps the theme of this summer. This delay like those that came before it continued the vicious snowball effect and with the vacation period rapidly approaching, the snowball grew and got uglier. Key team members who were first tasked to work with the backend and with Quests development had already been scheduled for other pressing tasks and key production requirements for the start of the summer period with the (at the time) fair assumption their work on Quests and the back end would be complete. Scheduled vacations were taken (people of course have bookings, bookings that no reasonable employer can suddenly disregard).

So, here we are - and it certainly might look like we’ve gone nowhere.

The good news is that we’re getting pretty close to finally being able to fulfil those missed promises and soon deliver new content in the form of Quests, Summer Solstice, bug fixes and stability resolutions. We also have more exciting content seeing polish which hasn’t been mentioned above.

What remains now is the final work on the new backend and our final testing pass. I’m going to respect the Curse of Delays here and avoid promising any dates for this. We’ll keep you in the loop as best we can going forward (our weekly livestreams will resume shortly) and hope to ship the bug fixes and new content as soon as we can.

We hope that this open letter gives a centralised text for you to get an understanding of what’s happened. Feel free to vent below, share your thoughts or draw a picture of a cat - should you so wish. We’ll try our best to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks

TL;DR - We missed several deadlines (announced and internal), we made several mistakes, we’ve been hard at work catching up.

Kind of wish they'd have mentioned the new backend stuff with their first delay of Contracts but oh well. The game has remained a ton of fun even with the DLCs delayed and it's still great. That said, I haven't been affected by crashing at all unlike some of you in this thread.

I'm more concerned with gutter runner bugs and a host of other issues they let be since Last Stand.

Owl Inspector
Sep 14, 2011

Hookrats have been poorly designed ever since the start but now that they aren't buggy I doubt they are getting changed, since they would almost need to go back to the drawing board entirely. Or at least make big changes they are never going to make, like "letting them be staggered by at least one thing in the entire game." What's bothering me more than anything else lately is gas rats, who were way overtuned. The solution to gas rats taking too long to throw was not to flat out remove the delay before they throw entirely. I have had gas rats round a corner in melee range while I am swinging, and still get a point blank globe off before my next swing comes through to stagger it. Hook rat and gutter runner BS is something I've sort of internalized at this point so they don't bother me as much.

The impression I have of the devs is that theyre good at designing an incredibly fun game but aren't very technically competent. IIRC the reason the gunshots were broken for months despite something like 3 attempts to fix the issue (and even more attempts to fix the music slider) was a version control issue. When the game came out, I asked my friend who the devs were and he said "bunch of stinkers" because apparently when they released lead & gold on PC, it had huge server issues at launch and fatshark chose to do basically nothing about it, so the game died on the spot. They can make a good game, but as soon as technical problems arise they are not good at fixing them.

Still my GOTY 2015 and looking forward to the update. Glad they didn't abandon the game

The most fitting I can think of for the game would be a High elf Corsair. He would fit the bill for having both melee and ranged capacity and they have reasons to be roaming around in the old world.

Anything Brettonian (think arthurian legend except taking place in fantasy-notfrance) would be difficult to do well because the iconic Bret units they pull from largely chivalrous melee inspirations and wouldn't have much of a ranged game. You could make a Questing Knight work kind of if you let him use 2 melee weapons and gave him some hellish reach with a lance/polearm. Alternatively you could handwave a Man-At-Arms if you wanted to have a dirty warrior peasant to be rude at everyone forever.

I would think a Tilean or Estalian or Kislevian mercenary who focuses on throwing weapons could be an interesting.

If we wanted to add more spellcasters and wanted to get weird with it, most of the Vampire Counts during the end times fought on the Order side for large swaths of it. Say what you will about them, a worldwide apocalypse threatens to cut them off from their food source, so they know what side their bread is buttered on. A vampire character could do the melee + Spellcasting thing, just make their spells staves more death and decay themed and they could friction even harder with Saltzpyre than the bright wizard already does.

If you wanted to be more generic, there are other wizardly lores you could represent in game. Bring in a Celestial wizard that can butt heads with the bright wizard. An Amber wizard could work as a sneaky trapsy wizard that can hulk out and shapeshift for his melee attacks.

Blood Dragons would have the same problem that Bret Knights would in that they generally shun ranged combat and generally also magic. As awesome as one would be, I just don't see one making an appearance. A Lahmian would be cool because you generally don't see them in the Warhammer video games.
