that regex for email addresses is actually fine because it's not constructed, or intended to be read, by humans, also it's strictly regular so it should run fast

in general they're separate though, it's just that some servers treat them the same

google's support page says they will lock your address if you get too much incoming spam. any chance of that actually happening?

i did this and it works for most sites but i come across occasional ones that think that "if it's not gmail/hotmail/aol/me/whatever it must be fake" and ban any other arbitrary address :wtc:

also a lot MORE sites don't consider my newer domain valid because they don't recognize gTLD's and are probably just regexing for com/org/net/info/whatever

That's annoying, I recently started using a .xyz domain for personal email and am relegating my old gmail address for accounts and purchases so hopefully I won't run into that. However, I've seen some websites (usually companies that deal with businesses or chip companies that give out samples) that don't let you register using a "free" email provider's domain :/
