Just finished the episode of DS9 where O'Brien cheerfully befriends the guy who just tried to kill him when he realises it will get him out of working. I can relate to that.

I replace O'Brien with All Bundy when I watch DS9. Keiko's all like "But Miiiiiiiiiiles" and then he kicks off his shoes and goes "uh, no Keiko". Then he clogs the sonic toilet.

Hey, guys, remember that time Worf sprayed caustic acid so strong it could eat through metal into Dr Beverly Crusher's face? Causing her to fall to the floor, clutching her face and screaming in agony until they sedated her and she needed major reconstructive surgery? Which never came up again in the following episode like it was no big thing?

The Enterprise's crew had a diversity training session a few days later in which they were reminded to respect Worf's cultural practices and to check their lack of up bringing in a warmonger blood-oath pain-worship society privilege. It was the exact same training session they had when Worf backhanded the Klingon woman in the mouth on the bridge of the ship because she looked at him with lusty eyes. Eventually the female crew members and female passers-by will learn to be more tolerant.

(when it's not totally loving helpless for plot reasons, of course) There was an idea floated that Picard had lost his right hand when he got Borged, and there was a sketch suggesting that the makeup department could make his right hand slightly off-color from the rest of his body to suggest that he now had an artificial hand, but it never went anywhere. I'm guessing either the writers rolled their eyes at the thought of having yet another thing to have to keep track of, or Patrick Stewart said "lol no i don't feel like coming in even earlier for makeup for the whole rest of the series just to do a little trivia via makeup".

Apollodorus posted:Terok Nor/Empok Nor twincest Impact! The ship heaved and shook, overwhelming the inertial dampers and kicking half the bridge crew out of their seats again. Enterprise groaned and threatened to come apart, but as always she held together and protected the crew from yet another attack. "Damage report!" "The Arcadia has rammed us, and appears to be wedged into the shuttlebay. The shuttlebay doors have been breached and there is serious damage to the hangar deck, but structural integrity appears to be holding." Kirk let out a breath. Arcadia was a third again longer as the Enterprise and at least twice as massive; he honestly hadn't expected to survive. "I've... never seen anything like that ramming blade before, Spock." "Nor I. Curious... it appears to be retracting..." Kirk's fist hit the intercom button. "All security teams, seal off the hangar deck and prepare to repel boarders." "...and now it is extending again." "...the devil is Harlock doing over there?" "Uncertain. They may be attempting to extricate themselves." Over on the space pirate battleship Arcadia "What's wrong? Why haven't we sent a boarding party over yet?" "The ship's gone crazy, Captain! We can't send anyone out the nose with the blade extended, and every time we try to retract the blade it just re-extends!" "Reverse engines! We'll launch fighters after we've cleared their hangar bay." "Thrust reversers won't answer!" My friend... why are you doing this??

Why doesn't the entire Federation follow the religion of Bajor when it's been proven to be demonstrably true?

Good idea for a sci-fi show: take everything that we know about the Cardassian occupation of Bajor and make a series about that, except change Bajor to a future Earth and change the name and the physiology of the Cardassians slightly.

V also got rebooted a few years ago before getting cancelled after one season. The ending was pretty funny in retrospect.

It's about resistance dudes fighting off aliens after an invasion. I tried really hard with Fallen Skies, but it was just boring. Cool concept, mostly talking. I can do talking if it's about anything remotely interesting and well written, but Fallen Skies was neither. I remember as a kid watching the lady from V eat the rat and then it's all anyone at school was talking about the next day. The new V was just ridiculous. It had more green screen than Once Upon a Time, like literally every screen aboard the spaceships. Season 1 ended on the cliffhanger of Diana releasing "Red Skies" on the world because she was angry, but in season 2 it turns out Red Skies was just a program to improve our atmosphere quality or something stupid. Then season 2 brought back the original Diana as her mom and the series ends with young Diana dropping off her mother's head with her bad-CGI tail. I felt robbed of 26 hours or whatever.
