I just had a doctor's appointment. Sitting next to me in the waiting room was a woman with a cute little baby. Baby's name? Messiah. Poor kid, I don't know if he can live up to his parents' expectations.

Stayed a few days with my uncle and got to chatting with his kids. They go to school with 2 kids, Older brother, younger sister and there is apparently a baby at home. Older Brother: Rocky. Younger sister: Pebbles. Baby: Stoney. I called bullshit but they could show me a school newsletter with the older brothers name, and my Uncle and Aunt both confirmed. Goddamn.

Heard a woman out in public today calling her son Ocean. The daughter was Abigail, so who knows? I was too busy to ask after it, though.

I read a paper yesterday where one of the acknowledgments was for Dr. Uwe Neue. That's not a particularly unusual German name, and rationally I even know the intended pronunciation (Oovay Noia, broadly), but in my head I just kept saying it as "Dr. Ooh Nuu."

The guitarist for Machine Head just had a baby (well, his wife did): Wolf Aequitas Demmel. I guess it's a metal band so it's not entirely unexpected but still.

Khazar-khum posted:Yes we do. See? He, me and she are next to a twee tree. He means more like a short e. Like the starting vowel sound in "end" or the middle vowel sound in "get". English isn't friendly with the idea of ending a word on that sound. e: I've never had trouble pronouncing it, I think because I'm a heritage speaker of Spanish, but I've seen a lot of monolingual English speakers struggle with it and pronounce, for example, Spanish "José" as "ho-SAY" instead of "ho-SEH". From a school I taught at: A girl named DORITO. Like the chip. Over the PA one day "Dorito soandso please come to the office" and I was like whoa sounded like they said Dorito and the other teachers were like yeah her name is Dorito. About 8-10 years ago working in a Kindergarten class, there were two girls (TWO IN THE SAME CLASS) named Topanga When my second kid was born looking at the other doors in the baby wing there was a Katniss and a Khilesi

My recollection is that when Topanga was first introduced on the show, she was a total weirdo from a hippie family or something. It was more of a joke character they set up than any planned future. Then she turned into a run-of-the-mill girl love interest. TV ...not that I'm 100% sure, since I last watched Boy Meets World when I was like, 10.
