Eh, I think it is not quite so outlandish. Of the last 6 polls 5 had Clinton up by +2 to +10, one had a tie. The last poll with Trump leading (+6) is from mid-June. Add to that some favorable polling for Clinton, the Dem's GOTV efforts and you've got people thinking NC is headed blue.
