Premature ejacula- posted:Had something weird happen just now. I saw a kabuto down the street on the Pokemon Go Map running from a dummy PTC account. I noted a geodude on the way. Go outside, see the geodude and kabuto on my radar, encounter the geodude and catch it and it says I've caught a Zubat. Weird, checked my recent list and sure enough I have a zubat. So I restart the app and go get the kabuto, catch it and bam it's an omanyte. Restarted the app again, gave it a while and then tried it and so far I've caught a charmander that is actually a pidgey and a sandshrew that is actually a rattata. I'm having the same bug. I'll add a video in a sec.

A more substantial response. I'm hoping this means they aren't abandoning the Pokemon-tracking concept altogether.

Sounds like they are just making one that actually works properly, so I have no problem with its "removal" now. Still, they really should hire a dedicated PR person to handle communication. With how successful the game has been there's no way they can't afford it.

Question. When I level up, does the max level of all my mons increase or do they stay at their first cap forever.

GlitchThief posted:A more substantial response. Oh, okay, so it's this: The 3 steps system was a mess in and of itself, so they disabled it. Since the markings were now vestigial, they dumped the 3 footprints entirely in preparation for a replacement. That makes sense, but really, that should have come out much earlier. Also, they should probably admit that they messed with capture rates.

Always evolve first. Evolving gives you a CP boost anyways and takes the same resource as powering up, so powering up just delays the evolution. More importantly, a pokemon's moves are randomized every time they evolve. The moveset of a pokemon matters WAY more than their IVs. Some movesets are terrible compared to others, so make sure a fully evolved pokemon has good moves before investing in it. gentle pete posted:Someone caught an Articuno from the pokemon switching glitch. Looks like it still uses the candy system, which seems odd if they intend for legendaries to only be event pokemon since you'd get a set number of them.

I really want to go outside now and catch Pokemon to see if I can end up with mewtwo due to the weird pokeswapping glitch, but I'm currently on the eighth floor of a hotel and don't want to get out of bed

There's no way they are going to be fixing the pokeswapping glitch anytime soon anyways. Not unless someone finds out a reliable way to replicate it at least and they absolutely have to stamp it out before mewtwo crops up in every suburb.

Of course they put it on the Masonic temple. drat Stonecutters!Stoat posted:When I fight gyms I just tap on the enemy until my special is powered then immediately use it. A lot of posters itt don't know about dodging, I guess. When the yellow flash happens, dodge by swiping left or right. Sometimes it will accidentally tap instead of swipe, so be careful. The yellow flash may be slightly before or after the animation looks like it will hit you. This is super useful. A dodged attack will net your opponent less charge for their charged attack, and dodging charged attacks are very easy since they're so telegraphed. Dodging is easiest when you use moves with fast attack speed, like water gun or mud slap, since you can get in a couple of attacks and then be good and ready for incoming. If your internet connection is spotty it fucks with the timing, though.

Trying to fight gyms without dodging at least the special moves will burn through your potions and revives very quickly. Anything with wing attack or water gun is good for learning how to dodge, because they let you dodge mid-animation. Also, the defenders always start the fight with a double attack, so that's also easy to dodge before starting to furiously tap.

Bold Robot posted:Who knows how it works - it's not worth it for a stat that makes like a 10% difference at best. Anyone handing their credentials over to a site that has a warning on the landing page about how they can't prove they're not stealing your info is retarded. Hi I'm a programmer specializing in security and SSO. The Google thing is secure (literally one of the most secure SSO methods you'll encounter on the web) until the site owner stealth changes the page to redirect you to a password stealing site. The permissions it asks for are completely under the control of Google. Double-check that it's SSL and not googIe.com (that's a capital i, not lowercase L) and you're 10x as secure as a PTC login through the Pokemon app itself. e: actual answer: Your password never goes over the wire. If somebody completely owned the site or your HTTPS (v. important, if it's HTTP it's way, way harder (practically, as in never been done, impossible) to do SSO securely through a browser) traffic, the max they'd be able to do is get the same permissions you give on the google site. Your attack surface is google's internal network (and very specific parts of it at that) and your browser stack (browser, OS). Signing in with the google method isn't making you one iota less secure in any way unless you either a.) just don't use the internet, which you do if you play the game, or b.) are a security specialist with superhuman attention to detail and inhuman discipline. wellwhoopdedooo fucked around with this message at 10:02 on Aug 2, 2016 |
