None of the Rio items look good at all so I'm not bothered, and if the new items drop from regular boxes gained from level ups I don't see the issue.

The summer games boxes have just replaced the existing normie loot boxes. You get the for levelling, or you can buy them. There's nothing more fancy than that.

Do you get a loot box when you win a brawl for the first time or something? not sure why people are mentioning the boxes re: lucioball, but I've never actually played a brawl so I don't know if you get anything special for them.

Some of these things are pretty funny. I got a victory pose where Torbjorn is holding up his turret, and the turret has a gold medal hanging off it. And a Bastion emote where he basically turns into a rock em sock em robot.
