Empire Magazine has given it 4/5. Guardian gives it a 3/5 Screencrush has given it a 3/10. Indiewire gives it a D-, citing pretty oppressive sexism throughout (Deadshot misses his daughter, someone elses misses their wife, someone else misses their girlfriend and Enchantress seems to have 'wandered out of a porn parody.')

The quoted part, the 4th one, is talking about Harley not Enchantress. And they're saying she's a highlight.

The common consensus from reviews I've read is more that the movie isn't the worst movie ever, more that it's bad and terribly, terribly boring.

I'm dating myself horribly here, but Suicide Squad has all the earmarks and the trappings of movies that came out during MTV's heyday where the entire point of the films was to make music videos and soundtrack tie ins. Still, "boring" would have been the last thing I expected. DC simply appears to just be in too much a loving hurry to tell all their stories and show off all their characters at once. I'm not saying "take the Marvel approach", per se, but you don't have to throw the entire kitchen sink at the audience all at once either. They seem to be assuming that the hardcore audience already knows the characters and that the casual audience can fill in the blanks but it seems they're disappointing both audiences. You need Fantastic Four level of reviews before I nope out.

The ultimate insult is the comparison to Oceans 11/12/13 whatever...those remakes are some of the most blank, boring films ever made and tbh the simple comparison is making me question whether I go see Suicide Squad.

Whelp, I'm still going to see this on Friday because I've got the day off and nothing better to do but I am very glad that that I've got free tickets (I get six free tickets a year from my bank, I've got two left but the only other films I'm planning on seeing this year are Doctor Strange and Rogue One).

Ocean's 12 was so stupid that it should have been either amazing or a trainwreck. Instead, the whole time I was watching it I kept thinking "How can a movie this unambiguously ridiculous and stupid be so boring?"

I wanted Suicide Squad to be good, but after hearing about the reshoots and Leto's antics, I was getting really worried about what kind of movie this was going to end up being. Sucks that it's looking to be another DC movie with a weird tone that I'm going to shy away from. I wonder if DC's plan is, instead of directly competing with Marvel, to just make bad films that speed up the bubble bursting and torpedoing Marvel's film business.

It seems most similar to Captain America in tone and style to me, aside from it being a period piece I mean, and Cap1 did OK if I remember right. I'm curious to see how it turns out myself. I don't like the character and have little interest in the film but it's hard to object on critical grounds to anything I've seen of WW so far, including BvS.

This will make just enough money for the movies to continue, and be just the right level of critically reviled for the narrative of "Anybody who doesn't like it just wants Marvel movies with their cars and their quips, they just don't Get It" to persist, and literally nothing will ever change.

And then everyone else goes "whoa mind blown!" and it turned into a solid 20% if the film. I do like Bruce Willis is just sitting in the hotel lobby alone, like he's waiting for his local friends to pick up him up but they're late. Oh yea, is SS tanks either way, it will just fuel the persecution complex of DC fans. They'll double down on "well, DC movies are too smart for everyone except us who really get". Yea, all the critics and movie going public are way too dumb to understand the inner struggle of Juggalo Joker. DC is the RNC while Marvel is the DNC.
