I guess I'm just destined to sit here drinking from my moonshine jug with XXX on it cursing that unholy witchcraft those wealthy people have.

The 2016 Olympics aren't about sports, they are about muggings, corruption, and biohazards. I'm looking forward to a running bodycount out of the Rio games.

I want to see how people are going to post seriously in that forum when every event will involve athletes making GBS threads themselves halfway through.

The front lights in one of the Olympic village hotel's reception area is leaking water onto the floor and side THROUGH THE ROOF AND THROUGH THE LIGHTS. I feel the minimum requirement of lights is that they shouldn't having running water in them. Maybe I'm too old and this is how the young folk do it now. #rioproblems

Someone managed to skim an awful lot of money by not having piping in the athletes village but just routing columns of water directly into the utility conduits.

I recently went to Taiwan Taiwan is stuck in about 1988 when the PRC decided it was going to start opening up to foreign money. And Taiwan basically lost all meaning overnight. Recently they are experiencing a bit of a tourism boom. That means lots of new hotels, but since the money hasn't quite flowed in yet, those new hotels are on a shoestring. I was in a downtown area, in a converted warehouse, in a windowless room where not all of the furniture had arrived (hell stuff branded with the hotel's logo only arrived halfway through my stay) Sometimes the smell of Taiwanese rice dishes would waft through the air conditioning Bawdy Cantonese ululated through echoy, barely-carpeted corridors and thin walls But it was clean, and there was all-you-can-eat toast with tea and coffee and hot and cold drinking water available 24 hours a day, self-serve. The water ran hot and cold too, and the showers didn't fall apart either. I think a half-finished budget warehouse conversion in a long-stalled economy was a better stay than Rio's flagship Olympic village.
