That's Mike Lester, rear end in a top hat conservative political cartoonist, and rear end in a top hat funny pages cartoonist. He posted that picture after Chick Fil-A opposed same-sex marriage to show that he supported them wholeheartedly. All I can think of when I see that pic is how lovely and sad looking that chicken sandwich is. But to get back to Richard Thompson, I never cared for Cul de Sac too much, but I enjoyed it enough to smile at the unique art style and the interactions between the characters. You could tell Thompson knew a child's psyche well because that's how kids act; it's a modern day Calvin & Hobbes. Good stuff from a good cartoonist who's no longer with us :/ EDIT: Note to self: don't leave this page open for fifteen minutes while someone else answers a question. Among the articles mourning/lauding the late Thompson, one revealed that he was tapped to do character sketches for the anthropomorphic emotions in "Inside Out"; I found his name in the credits. The director was impressed by the handle he had on children's emotions and wanted his input. The article went on to say that you can likely see more than a little of Alice in the character Joy. One of my favorites:  (let me know if it's too big)
