A Winner is Jew posted:Obama won't withdraw the nomination, and I really doubt Clinton would either should he not get confirmed before she's sworn in since it confirm that picking him was purely about politics and not about putting forward a serious candidate. Obama will withdraw the nomination and nominate someone else if it comes to that. He's not going to give the Republicans a handout after everything that's happened.

This is what I am hoping for. That would be best case scenario; the new president doesn't have to spend any of her political capital immediately upon entering office because Obama in the Obama gives no fucks portion of his presidency basically speeds away with one giant last middle finger to the Republican Party.

zoux posted:Obama isn't going to yank Garland's nom, he's not playing games with loving SCOTUS seats. It's this. Obama's biggest fault is that he still wants to be seen as bipartisan as possible even in the face of the GOP behaving like spoiled little shits. Pulling the Garland nod would be going against the entire image he's cultivated as the first black president being level headed and not a vindictive poo poo, plus he's too smart and too concerned about how history will judge him to pull that nomination.

So you aren't one of the ones who thinks that Obama deliberately picked a more centrist nominee to highlight the intransigence of the GOP? Because you seem to be implying that his first choice is a pawn.

Obama can withdraw the nomination under the guise of if Hillary wants to renominate him, she can, it is her decision now. Edit: Also I believe Obama hates the Republicans just enough to do this.

It was definitely a centrist pick, anyway.

Hillary Clinton will get at least 309 electoral votes I started the bar low lets go chums. Edit: I reserve the right the revise my prediction if we make Toxxes based on accurate maps, cause I love maps. Double edit: I'm willing to start an EV map toxx thread if you guys are down. Winner based of closest without going over, and accurate map gets a forums upgrade on me. Edmund Lava has issued a correction as of 07:04 on Aug 5, 2016 |

we'd get more participation if an account wasn't on the line. lower stakes I know, but even though I'm really confident about the PV margins I feel like the state polling + the uncertainty of GOTV and turnout makes it too soon to predict the EC. also a toxx thread would have a bunch of boring predictions stolen from sam wang. just a thought. I appreciate people wanting to raise the stakes + fund the lowtax college fund though.
